The reality TV star took to Instagram to share the news

Love Island's Amy Hart has just announced her engagement five months after the birth of her first baby.

The former Islander, who starred in the fifth season of the show, has taken to Instagram this evening (4 September) to share with her 1.1 million followers the exciting news.

The 31-year-old reality TV star uploaded a series of shots from the swanky proposal with fiancé Sam Rason, 33.

She captioned the photodump: "And he said…'hey, whatcha doin' the rest of your life?'

"Well and truly the biggest surprise ever. We are so happy (literally thought I was watching show rehearsals hence why I have no shoes on-Amz x)."

She later took to her Instagram story to repost the series of photos from the proposal, telling her followers it was 'the BIGGEST surprise ever'.

"The woman was too stunned to speak... so she nervously cried and laughed a bit," the overlay text continued.

Fans have since rushed in to the comments to share their congratulations for the happy couple with one Instagram user exclaiming: "Congratulations gorgeous!!! This is beautiful!"

"Congratulations and so happy for you both," wrote a second.

A third penned: "Oh wow!! This is incredible. Huge congratulations guys!!"

"Ah the best news!" echoed a fourth. "Congratulations!"

A final Instagram user added: "Awe! Congratulations Amy and Sam. I am so happy for you!"

The romantic, and very swish, proposal comes five months after the pair welcomed their first child into the world together in spring (3 March).

In a heartfelt message to her fans at the time, she spoke about her growing family and shared several photos: "Well…. 4 days of contractions at home (which everyone told us were Braxton hicks…they weren’t ), 4 very short hours in the delivery suite and 5 long days in hospital later, we are home with our dreamy baby boy born at 3.31am on 3/3/23 weighing 8lbs with the most beautiful head of hair (Amy would take the 9 months of reflux again) and we are so so in love."

The Instagram post continued: "Proper introductions to come but now we’re home safe and sound. Thank you to everyone who sent their well wishes.

"We really appreciated it over the last few days here’s a few delivery room snaps, can’t wait to show you his beautiful, non-post-birth swollen face."

It’s likely that Amy's little tot will be the first of many as the star plans to have a big family, according to a comment she made on Instagram last year.

Referring to her fertility treatment, she told fans on Instagram: "Use them [eggs] for 2nd/3rd/4th if we need to, if we don't, donate them!

"It was never an issue with falling pregnant, it was more the longevity of my fertility…my Prof said I had 2-3 years of good fertility left so I froze the higher quality, younger eggs."
