Zendaya’s Met Gala outfit has got tongues wagging this evening - or rather, one very specific detail has.
This year's event has a theme of 'Tailored For You', tying in with the Met's new spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is inspired by co-curator Monica Miller’s 2009 book Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
The dress code is a nod to the exhibit's focus on menswear, and and is ‘purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation’.
Zendaya showed up this evening in a stunning cream suit with matching shirt, waistcoat, tie and hat, which proved to be a look that some people found familiar.

You see, back in 2014, the star famously wore a VERY big hat to the Teen Vogue party – a decision that would come repeatedly back to haunt her.
In an interview with Vogue 10 years later, she reflected on the oversized Emporio Armani number, defending the look in spite of all the memes it spawned.
“This, this was a controversial look,” she admitted, adding: “I still see memes about this look with my hat. I stick by it. We thought it was chic at the time, and I think it’s still chic. I’d wear it again.”
And as she turned up to the star-studded bash tonight, fans couldn't help but feel like history was repeating itself thanks to one accessory - yep, you've guessed it.
“She’s going back to her roots,” one joked, posting the viral photo of her from 2014.
Someone else commented: “Even Zendaya going basic she just out a big ass hat to get some viral tweets.”
A third wrote: “great day for people who are on Zendaya hat tiktok.”
A fourth added: “Zendaya hat tiktok got me so good I laughed when I saw Zendaya’s Met Gala outfit today.”
Ahead of the big day, Law Roach, Zendaya's creative director and longtime stylist, revealed what we could expect from the star's red carpet tailoring.
Roach told Elle: “I want to see different takes on tailoring because tailoring doesn’t necessarily have to mean a suit.
“There’s so many other ways that it can be expressed....When I think of a tailor, I always also think of a beautiful wedding gown.”
