Lip reader reveals what Travis Kelce said to Taylor Swift as fans can't get over surprise appearance

After Taylor Swift was spotted enjoying date night with Travis Kelce at the Yankee Stadium earlier this week, fans went into overdrive trying to unpack their surprise appearance.

The couple had been watching the ALCS Game 1 between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians at Yankee Stadium on Monday (14 October), rocking up in matching black caps.

Speaking on his New Heights podcast, Kelce admitted that he had ‘mixed feelings’ going to the game, as the Ohio native was in ‘hostile territory’.

“The whole time I’m screaming,” he said. “I’m in hostile territory because it’s the Bronx Bombers, and I’m at the Yankees Stadium in the playoffs. I’m over here cheering for the Guards because I’m a Cleveland kid and I want to see Cleveland win a f**king World Series.”

In the end, the Yankees won 5-2, but Kelce was still able to enjoy himself.

“I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody, all our friends,” he added.

“We had an unbelievable crew with us and hanging with us. It was fun, even though the Guards couldn’t pull it off.”

Footage from their date night went viral after it was posted on X by the official account for Major League Basketball, which wrote in the caption: “Nothing like a #Postseason night at the ballpark for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.”

The clip shows the couple chatting together and smiling, with Kelce at one point high-fiving Swift.

Naturally, many fans were curious to know the conversation that they couldn’t actually hear.

After examining the video, lip reader Jeremy Freeman told Tyla that there was one word he’d been unable to decipher.

However, according to Freeman, Kelce had said to Swift: “Hey, go on <high five action>, I’m much more excited about today, _____ for the next step.”

Body language expert Darren Stanton said he felt the clip proved the sparks are still flying for the pair.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, he said: "We’re seeing a different dynamic between Taylor and Travis. We don’t see the same level of strong, engaged eye contact between them in public.

"They’ve shown a slight decrease in this intense affection they normally have - but they’re still displaying signs of a strong connection that is continuing to develop over time.

"In this clip, we see them still participating in tactile behaviour by playing with each other’s hands and sitting close together - telling us they were enjoying each other’s company."

Stanton continued: "I think they’ve reached a new chapter in their relationship. They could be moving past the honeymoon phase. Taylor and Travis’ connection has grown into something very secure.

"They feel comfortable and at ease. It’s clear they bring out the best in each other and everything feels natural to them.”
