This Morning presenter Sian Welby announces pregnancy live on air

Huge congratulations!

This Morning presenter Sian Welby has announced she's pregnant with her first baby.

Sian, who also hosts The Capital Breakfast radio show, shared the news live on air, apologising to fans for keeping it a secret.

Sian is expecting her first child with radio producer Jake Beckett, who she got engaged to last year.

Speaking on air, Sian, 37, said: “I’ve got a bit of an announcement for you! I’m pregnant! I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep it from you for so long.

“The lies, the deceit, the mocktails! I couldn’t wait to tell you. This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all on it with me, and don't worry I'm not going anywhere!

"This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Following the news, Sian’s co-host Roman Kemp said: “Oh my god! Oh mate I’m so happy for you and Jake as well!”

Meanwhile, Chris Stark said: “Is this real? It is the most exciting news ever!”

Sian explained to her colleagues how she had managed to keep the news a secret, revealing she had even intercepted a drinks order at the Christmas party so not to raise suspicion.

"At the work do, I ran downstairs and I intercepted the order and asked them to make one a virgin mojito," she explained.

"It's crazy to finally tell you, I couldn't wait to tell you."

Sian also shared a cute post on social media, posting a series of polaroid photos of her and Jake, Sian's baby bump and some scan snaps, too.

"We have some news," Sian captioned the photo.

And people have been flooding to the comments with messages of congratulations.

While Sian will take a break during the summer, it's expected she'll be back later in the year.

Sian recently stepped in to host This Morning following Holly Willoughby's departure from the show.

Speaking afterwards, she told The Sun: “I reckon if you stepped into any job where somebody had been there for years, you’d get comparisons.

"I’m obviously not offended by it because I love Holly, she’s an idol to me. I see it as a massive compliment!

"But at the same time, I don’t read anything into it. In showbusiness, you can’t overthink anything and I’m just grateful I got to do that week. I’d love to do more.”
