I'm sure many of us grew up watching the likes of Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po gallivant around Teletubbyland while a baby-faced sun looked over them.

Well, to make you all feel old, the woman who played the sun baby in Teletubbies has just welcomed her very first child.

Jess Smith was only nine-months-old when she lit up the sky and melted hearts in the original BBC series and now - some years after - she herself has her very own baby too.

The new mum, who is reportedly 27, has previously opened up about how she'd landed the sun baby role in the first place.

According to Jess, the producers of Teletubbies were at the same hospital that she was in while being weighed looking for 'smiley babies' to cast for the part.

"I was being weighed at the hospital," she'd previously told BBC South East.

"My mum took me and it just happened to be the same time that the producer of the old series had come in and wanted the hospital to get in contact with them if they’d seen any smiley babies."

Adding: “While recording my dad held a teddy bear behind the camera to get me to laugh, and rolled a toy racing car to get me to look down at the camera, and it obviously worked.”

Now, flash-forward a few decades and Jess has announced the exciting news that she has delivered her baby.

She shared a snap of the newborn's little hand to her thousands of followers yesterday (15 January), captioning the adorable pics: "One whole week of you."

Fans couldn't wait to share their congratulations for the new mum, with one Instagram user writing: "Welcome to the world baby!"

A second penned: "Yay! The sun baby's baby! Congratulations!

Another chimed in: "Proud of you!"

"Congratulations! Good luck with being a mom. You can do it." echoed a final Instagram user.

Jess first announced the pregnancy last year and revealed that she'd felt 'overwhelmed' with all the support from 'people around the world' who watched Teletubbies.

"I am feeling overwhelmed with the amount of love I am receiving from people around the world," she told Entertainment Tonight.

"I have received countless messages congratulating me and wishing us well for the future."

"I am still overwhelmed with the amount of people who have watched and are watching Teletubbies, the amount of messages I receive and hearing the stories told by people around the world," the child actor continued.

To make matters even cuter, Jess also told the outlet that she'd pass the series on to her child, adding: "She will be watching my version of Teletubbies."

Congratulations, Jess!
