Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce spark fresh backlash over one particular wedding guest's links
It’s been almost a week since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding - but it’s still the talk of the town, as more details are being unearthed about the mysterious big day.
The ‘Opalite’ singer, 36, and Kansas City Chiefs star, also 36, tied the knot at Madison Square Garden on Friday (3 July), in a ceremony officiated by none other than Adam Sandler.
But, among a star-studded guest list, which reportedly included the likes of Ed Sheeran, Zoë Kravitz, Bradley Cooper, and Gigi Hadid, there was allegedly one particular attendee who’s not gone down too well with fans.
Rolling Stone has reported that Steven J. Demetriou was at the wedding, the former Executive Chair of a company called Amentum Services.

To explain, Demetriou was part of a company called Jacob Solutions, but as reported by Grazia, he retired as CEO and continued serving as Executive Chair of the board of directors there until the end of Jacob Solutions' merger with a business called Amentum.
Demetriou’s LinkedIn states he has been Executive Chair at Amentum since September 2024, however, it’s unclear if this is up to date, as another Amentum page about him says his role at the company ended once the merger was complete.
Earlier this year, Amentum became the new contractor of ‘the country’s largest detention center,’ the Camp East Montana ICE detention center in El Paso, Texas.
The detention camp has found itself in the headlines multiple times, due to reports of harsh conditions, abuse, sickness and even death, as reported by The Guardian.
Demetriou reportedly attended the wedding with his wife and son, Ohio Republican representative Steven J. Demetriou Jr, who described the day to reporters afterward as ‘epic, great and life-changing,’ as per Metro.
He reportedly has personal ties to Kelce, as he’s the adoptive dad of the NFL star’s close childhood friend, Reggie King.
Fans have been reacting to the reports of Demetriou’s reported attendance, with one writing on X: “We aren’t talking enough about how Taylor Swift invited Steven J. Demetriou to her wedding."
While a second wrote: “OKAY. Steve J. Demetriou was in the wedding because he’s the adoptive father of one of Travis’ childhood friends (Reggie King), Taylor’s team should’ve done a background check on him, though.”
A third added: “Who is he in relation to her? How does she justify this wedding invitation while also coming across as a liberal political supporter?”
