Taylor Swift praised over move against Trump following president's controversial post

Taylor Swift is being applauded by fans after she has seemingly, once again, removed her music from Donald Trump’s latest social media post.

On Wednesday (23 September), the 80-year-old US President’s official @teamtrump Instagram account shared a bizarre post making reference to the American star’s upcoming single, ‘Patient Zero,’ which is due to be released on Friday, followed by a music video starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell that's been teased for Sunday's VMAs.

The post showed the outside of a detention centre in black and white and, in the style of Swift’s artwork for her song, included the text: “Zer(illegals) have crossed our borders in 16+ months, alongside a photo of the Republican leader.

Quoting another of Swift’s songs, the team added in the caption: “And, baby, that’s sh0w business for y0u.”

The post also originally included Tay’s song ‘Father Figure’ playing over the post, which she released in her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, last year.

But, mysteriously, the tune has since vanished and the post now simply says: “This sound isn’t available."

Fans have put two and two together and worked out that the hitmaker was likely the one behind its removal.

In the comments, one Instagram user wrote: “I love that Taylor Swift always removes her audio,” while a second agreed: “Can't wait for Taylor to take this down.”

A third brutally joked: “Sure obsessed for someone who claims to hate Taylor Swift,” while a fourth added: “Trump, you’re kinda obsessed with her…”

A fifth chimed in with: “Why is he so obsessed with Taylor?” and a sixth questioned: “Where’s the audio, Donald?” alongside laughing emojis.

And it’s actually not the first time such a move has been pulled, as Swift’s music has previously been removed by Trump’s campaign and the White House.

As reported by The Guardian, one showed First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks last month and included Swift’s song ‘August’.

The caption read: “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”

The US President’s campaign later published another post about Swift’s album Red, falsely claiming, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican party?” alongside parody track titles.

As you might’ve guessed, both posts now have no sound on them.

Swift also isn’t the first musician to be targeted by Trump’s team in this strange way, as the White House social media accounts have also used songs by Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sabrina Carpenter, and Olivia Rodrigo, all of whom publicly objected.

When Carpenter’s song was used alongside a video of immigration raids last year, she responded: “This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

Meanwhile, Grande said: “Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” after her music was used over footage of ICE agents handcuffing and detaining people.

It’s also not the first run-in Swift has had with Trump, as she publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election and, just days later, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

Then, in May 2025, he bizarrely wrote on Truth Social: “Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she’s no longer 'HOT?'"
