Taylor Swift fans know almost everything about her, but there’s one detail they’ve realised and they can’t wrap their heads around it.

When you love a musical artist, you tend to scroll through their entire life to find everything about them, which can sometimes become a bit of an obsession.

From their favourite food, childhood, passions and dating life, fans know it all. But sometimes, the little things can go under the radar, so when Swifties went on to spot a very tiny detail in a throwback video of her when she was a teen, it threw them for a loop.

It all began when a 2006 clip of the now 35-year-old singer, who was just 16, explained how she handled being a sophomore at Hendersonville High School whilst dreaming of becoming a songwriter.

Speaking in the video, Swift shared how her friends support her, how she writes down her ideas, and how she lives her life.

“Usually when I'm at school, a song will just pop into my head,' she said. "Sitting there in class and getting a melody and lyrics just coming to you. I'll pull out my cell phone and make a voice memo and people think I'm crazy talking to myself.

"I feel something, I filter it into a song.”

Talking about her friends, she said they 'hang out as much as possible', adding: "When I'm not working, I'm with them.

“They know all the words to my songs. They really just support me as a person and as am artist. They're all just beautiful to me and I love them.”

However, Taylor's love for her friends aside, most people were left incredibly perplexed by how she holds her pen.

Now, we all know that when it comes to pen and pencil holding etiquette, it’s only right to hold it between your index and thumb, whilst it rests on your middle finger..right?

But Swift opted to hold it right in the middle of her middle and index fingers.

“What an odd way to hold a pencil,” said one Reddit user, while another said: "The way she holds that blue pencil is crazy."

Meanwhile, someone else asked: “Who the f**k writes like that!?”

A fourth said: "I just want to know who taught her to hold a pencil/pen."

And a fifth commented: “Omg I was thinking the same thing! What an awkward way to hold a pen.”

And it's a habit she's still maintained to this day, as she's seen in her 'Anti-Hero' music video holding her pen in the same way.

But is there a reason for it?

According to Cheryl Crow, an occupational therapist who has made TikToks about how Swift holds her pen, there’s two reasons.

She told Slate: “This grasp that she uses, there’s two main reasons people might use that, typically.

“One is that they’re hypermobile, or their joints move too much. And the other one is hand pain, or rheumatoid arthritis, specifically.”

Crow seriously doubts the last reason is why Swift holds her pen, however.

All in all, it doesn’t hinder her songwriting abilities, so we’re all good here.
