Sad reason why Pamela Anderson doesn’t wear makeup anymore

She's been spotted at a number of public events rocking the natural look

Pamela Anderson has been a household name now since way back when in the 90s when she first sky-rocketed to fame as C.J. Parker on Baywatch.

For decades, the actor become synonymous with her iconic blonde bombshell, thin brows and smoky eye combo but, as of the last year or so, has totally ditched her signature look and there's a pretty heartbreaking reason as to why she doesn’t wear make-up anymore.

Anderson has now been spotted at a whole bunch of public events sporting a glowing fresh-face including Paris Fashion Week last autumn (28 September), the 2023 Fashion Awards red carpet a couple months back (4 December) and just last Sunday (10 March) at the Oscars.

The 56-year-old has regularly rocked a glowing bare-faced look and, while it shouldn't be a big deal whatsoever if celebs decide to wear makeup or not during public events, it's clear that it's sadly very much not the norm.

Anderson previously opened up about the reason as to why she's scaled back her signature bombshell makeup look, telling Elle Magazine last August that it came shortly after a huge personal loss.

After losing her close friend and makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, to breast cancer in 2019, Anderson made the decision to leave her iconic look behind.

"She was the best," the mum-of-two shared. "And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup."

Anderson also revealed that ditching the makeup look that helped skyrocket her to fame was actually a welcomed change, telling the outlet that the novel experience was 'freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious, too'.

Since then, Anderson has announced a brand-new skincare venture where she's teamed up with Sonsie, a vegan and cruelty-free brand created by German-born model and content creator Marie von Behrens-Felipe with husband Roberto A. Felipe.

In a conversation with The New York Times, she described her new stripped-back look as a way of 'peeling back off the layers of [her] life'.

"I’m a fresh slate now, at the starting position of the next chapter," she said, adding that this chapter is 'going to be even better' now that she doesn't have to 'pretend to be something that [she's] not'.

She added: “I’m enjoying the process of getting older.

"The things that are happening to my face — a little elasticity is leaving — I’m finding humor in that. I feel sexier now that I have some secrets and some mystery. We don’t learn that until later in our lives.”

Talking about her beauty philosophy, the icon previously explained: "I don’t want to fit into any formula. I want to strip it back, peel it back… I know what it’s like being a mother, a single mom or working in the industry, or in a relationship that doesn’t work.

"It is so much life that I’m taking as the inspiration. So, it makes it much more fun for me. We don’t have to answer anybody."

Adding: "[Beauty] is about celebrating where you’re at, celebrating in your beauty journey, being OK with who you are right now.

"Really embracing where you’re at and making yourself feel the best and representing your highest self."

Preach.
