Jane Fonda has taken a swipe at Barbra Streisand's Oscars tribute to the late actor, Robert Redford.
A number of late Hollywood A-listers featured in the In Memoriam segment during the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday (15 March), which saw Barbara Streisand take to the stage to honour Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid star Redford, who passed away late last year (16 September) at the age of 89, where she performed 'The Way We Were' live.
"He was a brilliant, subtle actor," the Funny Girl actress said onstage. "And we had a wonderful time playing off each other because we never quite knew what the other one was going to do in the scene."
Streisand starred in the 1973 romance drama The Way We Were alongside Redford, while Fonda starred in four films with him: 1960’s The Tall Story, 1966’s The Chase, 1967’s Barefoot in the Park and 2017’s Our Souls at Night.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at an Oscar night party, Fonda expressed her wish to have been the one paying tribute to Redford.
"I want to know how come Streisand was up there doing that for Redford?" the 88-year-old said, noting that 83-year-old Streisand 'only made one movie with him, I made four!'
"I have more to say," she playfully added.

Fonda laughed, saying she 'was always in love with him', calling Redford 'the most gorgeous human being and such great values'.
"And he did a lot for movies, he really changed movies, lifted up independent movies," she gushed.
Redford, who is best known as a leading man during the American New Wave, earned an Academy Award for Best Director for Ordinary People in 1980.
Other accolades include a British Academy Film Award and five Golden Globe Awards, as well as nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Sports Emmy Award, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, and an Independent Spirit Award.

The In Memoriam segment also saw a dedicated tribute to director Rob Reiner, Diane Keaton and Catherine O'Hara amongst several others.
Among those omitted from the televised In Memoriam tribute were James Van Der Beek and Eric Dane, despite the pair both passing away earlier this year.
Both late actors were primarily known for television, though they did also have several film credits.
While their names did not appear in the broadcast tribute, they were included in the Academy’s longer In Memoriam list, which was published online.
