Nikki Glaser reveals how much she was paid for Golden Globes but claims it was less than male host

Glaser is the first ever woman to host the Golden Globes solo

Nikki Glaser has revealed how much she was paid to host the Golden Globes, claiming it was less than a previous male celebrity.

The comedian is the first ever woman to have hosted the prestigious awards show solo, with previous hosts including Jo Koy, Jerrod Carmichael, Ricky Gervais and Seth Meyers.

There's also been some duos over the years, such as Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh, and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

For her first big stint on the awards show, the comedian was highly praised, especially for her monologue where she roasted several celebrities.

Glaser first took a swipe about Wicked's viral 'holding space' interview, featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Meanwhile, later on in the evening, Glaser then made a hilariously savage joke about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, which the pair seemed to take in their stride.

Speaking with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show the day after the awards, Glaser explained that while she was happy with the sum she'd received for hosting the awards, she claims she didn't get as much as a past male host.

“I got paid pretty — I’m good with that,” she said.

“There was a past host who said how much he got paid in his monologue and I got less than that, but that’s OK. I’ll get more next year.

"I feel well paid for what I do. I’m alright.”

It's not clear who Glaser was referring to, but comedian Jerrod Carmichael - who hosted the ceremony in 2023 - claimed he was paid $500,000 (£397,810) during his opening monologue, The Independent reports.

Tyla has reached out to the Golden Globes for comment.

However, not all her jokes ended up making the cut as she also revealed the joke she very nearly made about Ben Affleck, which probably wouldn't have gone down too well.

“Am I gonna roast or am I gonna toast? You know what? I’m not roasting. I’m gonna toast," she told Stern. “And I just did all these toasts that were roasts.

“Like, 'Here’s to Ben Affleck, I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to ruin next'.”

This is, of course, a reference to Affleck having married and divorced two A-list Jennifers - Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez.

Glaser said she did push back, but it was decided it would have been 'insane' to go ahead with the joke.

“I argued like, ‘Oh, I didn’t say ruin them. I said he tried to ruin them so it’s not against them.’ But I was like, 'That would have been insane'.” she added.

Prior to marrying J.Lo in 2022, Affleck had also been married to Garner between 2005 and 2018.
