Petitions to deport Nicki Minaj surpass 120,000 signatures

One of the major petitions has coincided with Nicki Minaj's appearance at a Turning Point USA event last month

Petitions to deport Nicki Minaj to her native Trinidad and Tobago have now surpassed 120,000 signatures combined.

A number of petitions have cropped up on Change.org including the most popular which, at the time of writing, sits at over 89,000 signatures and is titled: "Deport Nicki Minaj to Trinidad."

It was created on 9 July 2025. Meanwhile, the second most popular has garnered over 48,000 signatures and was created on 28 December 2025.

Minaj, a 43-year-old rapper famous for tracks like 'Anaconda', 'Super Bass' and 'Starships', has notably become increasingly supportive of the Trump administration in recent months, and even made a surprise guest appearance during a Q&A of Turning Point USA's AmericaFest in Arizona last month (21 December).

The second petition, which was reportedly created by the likes of Tristan Hamilton, a '16 yo who stands up for what he believes', used an image of Minaj high-fiving TPUSA leader Erika Kirk, who took over the role from her husband Charlie Kirk following his assassination in September.

Hamilton wrote, as per the Change.org website: "Nicki Minaj's actions and words have taken a turn that has left many of her supporters and those who once found solace in her music feeling deeply betrayed.

"Once a voice for the LGBTQ+ community, she has now flipped her stance, asserting outdated and harmful notions such as 'boys should just be boys'. These statements aren't just insensitive; they undermine the very foundations of a community that looked up to her for advocacy and understanding."

The petition continued: "This is personal for those of us who watched Nicki rise as a beacon of hope, only to feel abandoned by her shift in values. Her public platform carries weight and responsibility, and her recent statements are a stark contrast to the solidarity she once showed, leaving many feeling deflated and disillusioned.

"Furthermore, Nicki's status in the United States is not based on citizenship, which raises questions about her continued presence here despite her divisive actions and statements."

Now, it's not immediately clear where there would be any legal basis for deporting Minaj.

Back in 2018, she did claim that she came to the States 'as an illegal immigrant at five years old'.

Additionally, the rapper's current status is also unclear but in 2024, she did say during a TikTok Live stream: "I’m not a citizen of America. Isn’t that crazy?

"You would think that with the millions of dollars that I’ve paid in taxes to this country that I would have been given an honorary citizenship many, many, many thousands of years ago."

Hamilton's petition went on: "Deporting Nicki Minaj back to Trinidad would serve as a reminder that public figures need to be accountable for their words and the broader impact they have on diverse communities. It's not just about one person's fall from grace; it's about holding everyone to a standard of compassion and consistency, especially when they possess significant influence.

"Sign this petition to urge immigration authorities to review Nicki Minaj's residency status in the United States and consider deporting her back to Trinidad as a response to her harmful rhetoric."

He concluded: "Let's stand together to advocate for a community that is inclusive and respectful, leaving no room for abandonment based on outdated ideologies. Every signature counts in making our voices heard and fostering a sphere where public figures can be evaluated on the principles they claim to uphold."

Needless to say, the rise in the petitions' popularity has sparked quite the heated debate among MAGA heads, Republicans and liberals alike.
