Earlier this week, Miley Cyrus went viral for performing her teenage hit The Climb for fans at a private concert - a song made famous by The Hannah Montana Movie, in which she played the titular character.
For years, followers of the Disney Channel alum have been desperate to hear the much-loved musician play some of her more nostalgic childhood tracks in public, yet their wishes were sadly never granted.
For five years, she played the teen high schooler living a double life as a famous pop singer on the kids' television channel.

The role sky-rocketed the Tennessee youngster to global stardom and saw her release of a plethora of pop hits in relation, including 'Nobody's Perfect', 'He Could Be The One', and 'Best of Both Worlds'.
The immense success of Hannah Montana also prompted several spin-off movies, and ensured that Cyrus would continue making history in the entertainment industry.
To this day, the 32-year-old star is regarded as a contemporary pop icon, with three Grammys, one Brit Award, five Billboard Music awards, three MTV Video trophies and a staggering eight Guinness World Records.

These accolades were down to her more mature country, pop and rock hits, like 'Wrecking Ball', 'We Can't Stop', and 'Flowers'.
As we say, however, whilst such tracks have sealed Cyrus reputation as one of the most successful modern musicians, fans who've followed her on-screen antics from day one have been left wondering why she seemed to have turned her back on her Hannah Montana beginnings.
It turns out, however, that there was a very specific reason why the star never opted to belt out the 'Hoedown Throwndown', or 'Ordinary Girl'.
According to a recent admission, Cyrus was actually prohibited from performing any of her Disney hits after resigning from the media channel, as per a pretty strict contract.

Speaking on the Every Single Album podcast this week, the former child star explained: "After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music."
Laughing it off, she continued: "It's not like I wanted to, I mean, performing 'The Best of Both Worlds' between 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball' wouldn't have really made sense.
"But it was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn't allowed to sing them."

It was only after she became a 'Disney Legend' that the ban was lifted.
For those in need of a reminder, a star is inducted into the Disney 'Hall of Fame' after being handed an award by The Walt Disney Company having 'made a significant impact on the Disney legacy' - an honour first established in 1987.
"But after being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool," Miley explained.
It didn't take long for fans to discuss the revelation that they might be able to see their favourite childhood star singing her first ever hits in public.
"I think I would sob," one confessed on Reddit user. "Her whole Hannah discography is so sentimental and nostalgic. Now adding her matured voice.

"Wow. I don’t know if my heart could handle that."
Another penned: "Something about the thought of hearing an acoustic version of "One in a Million" or "If We Were a Movie" with her matured voice, is making me teary eyed."
A third went on to confess: "My fantasy is her starting off the halftime show as Hannah and then ripping the wig off and performing as herself. It’s all I want lol."
"If she went on a Hannah tour I would hand my money over so fast," another continued. "To this day I remember how heart broken I was that I never got to see her in person, I loved her."
