Kourtney Kardashian sparks criticism over outlandish 'no school' rule for kids

The Lemme co-founder shares her three eldest children with ex, Scott Disick, and one-year-old son with husband Travis Barker

Kourtney Kardashian’s controversial parenting take has sparked controversy, with some fans branding her as ‘entitled’ as she claims the school system is ‘outdated.'

The Kardashian-Jenner family have dominated TV screens, rich lists, and business news headlines for almost two decades - with various members of the clan possessing assets worth more than $1 billion (£800 million).

Eldest daughter Kourtney, 46, - who lives in a gated 12,000-square-foot mansion with her husband, Travis Barker, 49 - is in the midst of raising her four children: Mason, 15, Penelope, 12, Reign, 10, and one-year-old Rocky.

She shares her youngest with the Blink-182 rocker and co-parents her eldest three with ex-boyfriend, 41-year-old Scott Disick.

However, she recently revealed that her children don’t get their education from a traditional schooling environment.

Opening up about her decision to implement a ‘no school’ rule on her offspring’s lives, the mother-of-four said: “Why do kids f****ng go to school?’ Truly. It’s so dated.”

The conversation took place on her 40-year-old sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé In Wonder Land, which began with the pair reminiscing on the past.

When talk turned to the ‘era’ when Kourtney and her younger sister Kim Kardashian, 44, would feud, the Poosh icon said their arguments may have started because she learned how to build boundaries in therapy.

“I would.. kind of started challenging the ways that we did things, sometimes the way that we just all function,” she said on the podcast.

After Khloé claimed she ‘hated’ when Kourtney and Kim would fight, the former said: “Well, I feel like I love to just go against the grain, I think.”

When asked if she pushed back just to be different, the Lemme co-founder confessed: “No, I think living authentically is not conforming to whatever it is.

“For me, there’s so many ways. There’s ways we function as a family that… it’s like if someone does the same thing every day. Like I do it with everything, it’s not about our family.

"Like, let’s say the school system. I’ll think, ‘Why do kids f****ng go to school?’ Truly. It’s so dated.”

Khloé replied: “Oh, I’m such a homeschool person. So don’t even get me going.”

"And then I’m like, ‘What’s the goal here? You want to do homeschool? Let’s do it!’ Or whatever it is. I think it’s anything," Kourtney continued.

"I will nurse the fever of my kids versus giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. I just want to do that.

“And whatever it is, there’s so many things like that where I feel like I kinda do, maybe in the world generally does maybe more what I do, but in the United States [it’s different].”

Kourtney’s comments have sparked debate online, with one typing: “Kourtney's calling traditional school outdated, inspired by ‘successful’ off-grid kiddos. What's next, Kardashian Academy?”

“People gonna get mad cause a Kardashian is saying it, but waking up at 5:30 to send your kids to school with a bunch of weirdoes is definitely not the move,” argued someone else.

“Homeschooling is the way if you can structure it correctly.”

Another commented: “The entitlement in this statement is amazing.. We can’t afford tutors for our children also we don’t have hundreds of millions of dollars. Could she be any more entitled?”

A fourth replied: “The manner in which they teach the kids is outdated especially kids in urban settings. The school system needs to change & college is a scam - too much debt but jobs pay very low.”
