Kim Kardashian’s hairstylist splits opinion after revealing how much he charges to do hair

It goes without saying that Kim Kardashian is no stranger to a glam squad, but one member of her inner circle has now become the subject of pretty divided opinions on their prices for doing hair.

Chris Appleton has worked with Kim for more than a decade, helping create some of her most recognisable looks, from sleek red carpet styles to major hair transformations.

In fact, the 42-year-old celebrity hairstylist has become a huge name in his own right, regularly working with some of the biggest stars in the world.

As noted by The Sun, Kim has also previously made it clear that Chris is far more than just someone who does her hair, describing him as one of her closest confidants. Now, however, it’s his pricing that has got people talking after he appeared on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast.

During the conversation, available via the particular clip being uploaded on Instagram, the former Made in Chelsea star wasted absolutely no time in putting him on the spot.

Jamie asked: “Is it true that you charge $100,000 for a haircut?”

Chris replied: “Oh, God, I should never have said it. I got dragged for that.”

It turns out, however, that the figure previously mentioned was not actually the full amount.

After Laing then asked if it was more, Appleton replied: “It was.”

The stylist added: “It was $200,000, but I said $100,000 because I was afraid of what everyone would say…I don't know. I said it, and then I was, like, scared.”

Jamie appeared to defend Chris, telling him: “You've worked your butt off, right, to get where you are. When you're that sought after, you can charge a premium.”

Chris then explained that the fee was not simply for a quick haircut, saying: “But some people think it's, like, obnoxious to talk about that. You know, there's plenty of times I do work for free. There's plenty of times I don't get paid that amount of money.”

“The other thing as well, just to sort of set the record straight, let me say it, because it made me feel better, is that was, like, a bigger thing, and there was a lot of traveling, and it was a whole commitment. So when you break it down, it's not as much.

“Also, 50% tax in America. So that's half. And then your agent takes 20%. And then your business manager takes five”, with Laing further agreeing by saying: “There we go!"

After the clip was shared, Instagram viewers were indeed split on their thoughts.

One person wrote: “Period. Love that for him.”

Another said: “No one's turning that down. Fair play!!”

A third added: “He can charge what he wants ...you're either happy to pay, or not!! It's his craft, his living !!”

Someone else commented: “Things are worth what people are willing to pay.”

Others, however, were not quite so convinced, with one critic writing: “No haircut is worth that much.”

Another asked: “A premium!?? A 200k premium for a haircut!? Are you people ok!??”

A third simply said: “Madness.”

Meanwhile, someone else added: “Insane people will pay that amount of money for a haircut.”
