Last week, telly-lovers were forced to bid goodbye to widely-adored Channel 4 presenter, Jonnie Irwin.

The on-screen star - famed for fronting A Place In The Sun alongside co-host Jasmine Harman - was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer back in 2020, but opted to keep it under wraps until two years later.

Since revealing his diagnosis back in November 2022, father-of-three Jonnie updated his thousands of followers throughout the duration of his cancer battle.

He'd share date night snaps with wife Jessica Holmes on Instagram, post holiday pics alongside their three gorgeous sons, Rex and twins Rafa and Cormac, and would regularly open up about the often brutal realities of cancer treatment.

On Friday 2 February, however, it was announced by Jonnie's wife that the star had sadly passed away.

Taking to Instagram, a snap of Jonnie and Jessica was shared alongside a lengthy caption describing him as a 'truly remarkable soul'.

"He fought bravely against cancer with unwavering strength and courage. Jonnie touched the lives of so many with his kindness, warmth, and infectious spirit," the statement read.

"At this time, we kindly ask for the privacy of Jonnie’s family as they navigate through this profound loss.

"Their grief is immeasurable, and your thoughts, prayers, and support are deeply appreciated.

"As we remember the beautiful moments shared with Jonnie, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts. Jonnie may be gone from our sight, but his love, laughter, and memories will live on.

"Rest in peace, dear Jonnie. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten."

Tributes to the Channel 4 favourite have understandably been flooding in over the last week - more so since last night, when A Place In The Sun producers honoured Jonnie at the beginning of a brand new episode.

The latest instalment - which followers presenter Danni Menzies showing holiday house-hunters around some properties in Manilva, Spain - began with a special dedication to late presenter Jonnie.

The show paid tribute to Jonnie.

"In memory of Jonnie Irwin. 1973 - 2024," the sweet message read.

At the end of the programme, another tribute was aired after the credits, showing a younger Jonnie posing on the beach during a trip overseas for the show.

Numerous viewers of last night's show claim that the tribute left them in floods of tears.

One subsequently tweeted: "Choking back tears at seeing Jonnie Irwin on his final show and the tribute at the end! Rest well now Jonnie you fought the hard fight".

Another penned: "Sorry to hear of the passing of tv presenter #JonnieIrwin last Friday. He came across as a genuine guy. Was on #C4 #APlaceInTheSun for some years. May he rest in peace".

A third went on: "lovely tribute! Such a delightful presenter. Thoughts with his nearest and dearest".
