John Fury has broken his silence with a savage five-word statement after skipping his granddaughter Venezuela’s wedding over the weekend.

The 16-year-old, who is the eldest daughter of British boxer Tyson Fury and his wife Paris, tied the knot with her now-husband Noah Price, 19, in a lavish Isle of Man ceremony on Saturday (16 May).

More than 120 guests showed up to support the young couple, including Venezuela’s aunt Molly-Mae Hague, with her three-year-old daughter Bambi acting as bridesmaid.

However, one person who was noticeably absent was her granddad, Tyson’s dad, John, which Fury fans were quick to pick up on.

While the reason why hasn’t been disclosed, fans think it could have something to do with the fact that John and Tyson’s relationship has been strained in recent months.

The 60-year-old former professional boxer has also dropped a few hints that he’s not a huge fan of his teen granddaughter getting married so young.

On the family’s Netflix show, At Home With The Furys, John previously said: “They’re children! I don’t think she’s mature enough for anything like - she’s still a baby.

“On my watch, a 15-year-old should never have a boyfriend, never.”

And now, John has reportedly spoken out for the first time since the extravagant wedding.

As reported by goss.ie, under an Instagram post pointing out his absence, he allegedly commented: “It was for the best.”

John Fury says relationship with Tyson is 'destroyed'

It comes after a strain between John and his son, following Tyson’s decision to return to boxing following his retirement.

After Tyson announced his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov, John brutally declared that their relationship was ‘destroyed’.

During an interview with Playbook Boxing, the father-of-six said: "I think he's past his best. I'm a no-filter kind of guy - I say it how I see it. I love him, but there are too many people patting him on the back and telling him things that aren't true, building him up like he's invincible. He's not, and he hasn't been for a while.

"Tyson has been gone since the Deontay Wilder fights, they finished him. Wilder completely done him. He's not got a leg underneath him. He's took a lot away from Tyson. Makhmudov is a problem for Tyson. I am the first one to say it."

He continued: "My relationship with Tyson is destroyed. Boxing destroyed it completely. I'll say it on camera: I've never taken £10 off him in my life, and I never will.

"I don't want Tyson's money, and I don't need Tyson's money. Whatever he's got, good luck to him. But, don't forget who built his story when he was a kid. He didn't build it himself, did he? Me, his father."

Meanwhile, Tyson told The Ring Magazine that his dad 'just wants the best' for him.

"He wants me to retire and walk away but if it was that easy I would have walked away five times before but I don’t have that ability to let go. It can affect a lot of stuff including families," he said.

"My dad saying he’s not speaking to me, I suppose he’s trying to encourage me to not fight anymore. But fighting’s all I’ve ever known and all I ever will know."

Tyla has reached out to a representative for John Fury for comment.

How was Venezuela Fury able to get legally married at 16?

Following the teenager saying 'I Do' to husband Noah Price, many have been wondering how exactly she was able to legally become a wife.

In 2023, it became illegal in England and Wales for anyone under the age of 18 to get married. The minimum age was raised from 16 to 18 in a bid to protect vulnerable children across the UK, the UK government states.

The Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 means that 16 and 17-year-olds are strictly not allowed to marry or enter a civil partnership, even if they have parental consent. It is illegal and a criminal offence to exploit vulnerable children by arranging for them to marry, under any circumstances, whether or not force is used.

Taking all of this into consideration, fans have been scratching their heads over how Venezuela was able to legally tie the knot to husband Noah.

Well, it was all because of their wedding location - the Isle of Man.

Fans of the family will know that Tyson moved his wife Paris and their seven children from Morecambe, Lancashire, to the Isle of Man in November 2025 because of the number of 'disturbed' visitors who would arrive at his house at all hours of the day and night.

"I looked at moving abroad, far away, but it turned out that the Isle of Man is the perfect place for me – English speaking, English pound notes," Tyson said, per ITV News. "I can go and get an English newspaper from the local petrol station with my coffee and speak my own lingo."

And it turns out that the big move worked very well in Venezuela's favour, as the legal minimum age of marriage in the Isle of Man is 16, rather than 18.

Parental consent is needed for anyone aged 16 or 17 wanting to tie the knot, which wasn't an issue at all for Venezuela and Noah.

Mum Paris has been outspoken in defending her daughter's decision to marry so young, with her previously saying on This Morning: "Venezuela is so mature for her years. She's done so much in such a short time just because of who she is and the fact that she's got six younger brothers and sisters that she's helped bring up, I can't deny it...”

Pointing out how she was 17 when she married Tyson, Paris added: "She's obviously following in my footsteps, so how can I judge her in any way. I know she's young. But I think she's found the person she loves and if she's happy, I will completely support her."
