No matter how much SPF we wear, or how much we splash out on skincare, ageing hits us all.
But not necessarily in equal amounts. I mean, is there any 90-year-old out there that looks younger than Dame Joan Collins?
The absolute legend practically seems to have frozen in time with her incredible beauty, ageing gracefully - and iconically.
In the 80s, Collins starred as Alexis Colby in soap opera Dynasty, which made her a global name.
The actor also appeared in Benidorm, American Horror Story: Apocalypse, The Royals, and The Time of Their Lives.
A recent snap from this summer shows her enjoying time in a pool in St Tropez with her husband, Percy Gibson, 58, as she literally looks decades younger than 90.
Instagram/@joancollinsdbe Fans wrote in the comments that Collins was ‘ageing backwards’ asasplenty called her ‘absolutely beautiful’.
The star has previously shared a variety of tips for just how she manages to look so young.
As an anti-ageing tip, Collins says you should never be leaving home without SPF on.
“I have always worn sun protection and have kept my face away from harmful rays since I was 20," the actor told You magazine in 2014.
"You should see me when I wake up in the morning: my face is so white, it’s like a sheet."
Another big one, and an easy one when we’re not feeling lazy, is quite obvious: taking off your makeup.
In 2019, Collins told The Mirror: “I don’t go to bed without taking off my makeup and putting on night cream. My mother had me and sister Jackie doing that when we were 14.”
Instagram/@joancollinsdbe Surprisingly, she also favours a good makeup base over invasive procedures.
Collins previously told Hello!: “A good base can really help disguise any tell-tale signs of ageing.
“It’s about base, not Botox!”
Collins will always make sure her foundation is definitely in place before ever leaving the house, adding: “I believe it helps act as another barrier between skin and harmful elements that can aggravate skin.”
And it’s not just about what’s on your skin, but the actor also credits a balanced diet for her young looks.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2015, she said: “The quality of what you eat is as important as the quality of the products you use.
“I try to eat a balanced diet. I believe eating avocados is very beneficial and I believe in taking vitamin supplements.”
And importantly, Collins reminds us that age is just a number after all.
The star doesn’t believe women should be asked their age and told Saga Magazine last year: “I think what is important is not age, but how you look, feel and behave.”
