Prior to their lavish Venetian nuptials over the weekend, Jeff Bezos is said to have issued his bride-to-be a very specific, and rather untraditional, request.
For those out of the loop with the A-list festivities, the Amazon CEO and FOX News journalist Lauren Sánchez tied the knot on Friday (27 Jun), two years after they first announced their engagement, in front of a vast plethora of huge-name stars.
That isn't to say their wedding was without its lows, however, with the billionaire couple having previously been criticised for the amount of dough they'd dropped on their big day.
It was initially reported that they'd spent between $10-20 million on essentially renting out the entire city of Venice, though this figure has since doubled in the estimations of a number of finance and events experts.

Others believe they likely paid a total of around $50 million for the grand festivities.

As if their cash splashing wasn't controversial enough, it has since emerged that 61-year-old Bezos asked a huge favour of his future wife ahead of the eight-figure ceremony.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, who supposedly spoke to Vogue Italia editor Laura Tortora, the businessman had the idea of getting a sneak peak at Sánchez in her gown before they exchanged vows.

Bezos is said to have 'begged' the former broadcaster to break the long-standing superstitious tradition.
Apparently, however, Sánchez resisted her husband's charm 'because she wanted to give him this surprise at all costs'.
Instead, she made him wait until she walked down the aisle at a breathtaking church on the Italian island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
It was only then that Bezos lay his eyes upon her Dolce & Gabbana custom gown which, according to Vogue, had been made from hand-appliquéd Italian lace. The plush gown also had a total of 180 silk chiffon-covered buttons.

Sanchez, 55, paired the dress with earrings she is understood to have borrowed from Dolce Alta Gioielleria Miracolo.

And for her something blue, she reportedly included a memento of her flight on the hotly-debated Blue Origin flight.
According to Tortora, all the preliminary hype around Sanchez' dress had inspired Bezos to inquire whether he could take a quick glimpse before they said 'I do'.

"She told us that Jeff wanted to see this dress," the Vogue boss explained. "Bezos begged to see the dress. But inside herself she resisted because she wanted to give him this surprise at all costs and so she managed it."
Apparently, as she approached the church, extra measures were also taken to prevent Bezos from turning round until the exact right moment, so as to ensure Sanchez could have her photos taken.
The Amazon CEO was reportedly 'kept in a room that didn't face the lawn where she was being photographed'.
Tortora continued: "So even in that context, attention was paid to this so she could maintain the secret with her future husband."
