Holland Taylor shares rare insight into 32-year age gap relationship with Sarah Paulson

Today marks the 51st birthday of much-loved actress Sarah Paulson, and we're guessing that she's spending it with a very special someone.

For those in need of a reminder, the American Horror Story star has been dating her considerably-older girlfriend Holland Taylor since 2015 - the latter of whom opened up recently on their hotly discussed cross-generational romance.

As we say, the couple went public with their romance back ten years ago after Two and a Half Men favourite Taylor 'slid into' Paulson's DMs, despite them actually having first met an entire decade before that.

In the years since, the A-list duo have only made a brief number of red carpet appearances together, and have addressed the ins and outs of their high-profile romances even less frequently.

Whether or not this has anything to do with the couple's almighty age gap - given that they were born 32 years apart - we have no idea, but we can only hope that it doesn't.

An exception to their rather tight-lipped rule was made last week, however, when 82-year-old Taylor shared some words of praise over Paulson, after the Oceans 8 bombshell received her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Branding her a 'shining star', Taylor said in a speech on 2 December: "Sarah, the actress, is first of all a wild creature in the animal kingdom. Warm blooded, instinctive, mysterious.

"And Sarah is dangerous - trust me in this - not dangerous like a snake, more like a mongoose."

Applauding her other-half's 'commitment to truth' as a performer, Taylor continued: "Nothing interferes with her laser perception of her character’s traits, its habitat, vulnerabilities, its heroism, its ugliness, terrible truths, its comic pathos.

"She zeros in to a story’s central struggle, where most of us aren’t even aware of our own."

The Primetime Emmy-winner also went on to predict Paulson could even boast a 'great director' title one day, adding: "Her acting is as honest as our faith and as complicated as chemistry. She’s not deceiving us she is practicing magic."

Taylor lastly touched upon Paulson's 'secret skill as an actor' which said revealed to be 'her own humanity', adding: "She's deeply understanding, loving and loyal person who is safety itself."

Of the Florida-born star's 'many deep, long friendships, and her love for her extended family', she also told attendees of Paulson: "Truth to tell, it is these relationships where Sarah is most complex, dedicated and giving.

"Sometimes it’s hard to believe she’s an actress. She breaks the mould, throws assumptions out the window, does it her way. She will always surprise us. Hollywood does well to honour her.

"And just in case she doesn’t know it, she has a permanent shining star on my street. I love you, darling."

Responding, a teary Paulson gushed in her own speech: "To the three perfect people who spoke today - Amanda [Peet], my bird, my best friend of over 25 years; Holland, my love and greatest champion; and Ryan [Murphy], the man who changed my life - I will be forever indebted to all of you for taking the time to be here today and most significantly, for being in my life so robustly, for always telling me the truth and loving me when it's not always easy to do."
