Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe gives rare update on newborn after welcoming baby boy

Daniel Radcliffe has given an adorable update on his baby boy - and it’s probably the sweetest thing you’ll read all day.

The 33-year-old Harry Potter actor and his long-term partner Erin Darke, 38, welcomed their first child together in April - but have chosen not to publicly reveal his name.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the happy news to Tyla back in April saying: "We can confirm that Erin Darke and Daniel Radcliffe have welcomed their first child."

During a recent interview with Extra, Daniel gave a little update on his ‘very cute’ son.

“He's very cute," Daniel said. "We've moved into a less screaming phase and he's now giving us little smiles and giggling." My heart.

Opening up about being a dad for the first time, Daniel admitted that it had been ‘crazy’ but also the ‘best thing’ he’s ever done.

He continued: "It's been a crazy few months, as anyone who's been through parenthood would attest.

"But it's also the literal best thing that's ever happened, so it's great. I feel very lucky to be able to have this time with him. It's awesome."

In an update to E! News, Daniel said he was chuffed his little one was smiling so soon as he was aware it took some babies a little longer.

“He's smiling and that's all I need,” the proud new parent said. “Like, that's awesome. Some people have to wait a lot longer for that, so I'm really happy with that."

He also took time to heap praise of his partner Erin, adding: "Watching my girlfriend become a mom is really the most incredible, beautiful thing to be witness to. So, it's great. It's a crazy thing, but it's also really beautiful." What a sweetheart.

Daniel had expressed his hopes for a future family in an interview with Newsweek last year, when he revealed he'd love for them to be involved in the film industry in some way.

"I want my kids - if and when they exist - I would love them to be around film sets," he said.

And with two actor parents it seems that film sets could very well be a feature in the little ones future.

Daniel and Erin actually met thanks to the film industry - after first meeting on the set of the film Kill Your Darlings in 2013.

The actor spoke to People in 2020 about how he and Erin met, telling the publication: "It'll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other.

"Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting."
