Who says football can’t be fashionable? Norway and Manchester City footballer Erling Haaland has sparked a surprising style trend while over in the States for the World Cup.

The 25-year-old sports star has well and truly been embracing American culture during his time across the pond, where a lot of the tournament’s games are taking place.

He took to Instagram on Wednesday (1 July) to share an insight into what he’s been up to while off the pitch - shopping for Texas-themed attire, apparently.

Haaland shared two pictures wearing a brown pair of cowboy boots, a black cowboy hat, and a T-shirt that says, “Y’all can kiss my Dallas.”

He simply captioned the post with, “Howdy!” and a cowboy emoji - and fans are obsessed.

The post came after Norway's latest World Cup win in Dallas on Tuesday (30 June) against the Ivory Coast, in which Haaland secured the victory as he scored a last-minute winner.

And as reported by Fox 4, the footballer’s interest in Texas fashion has triggered a huge sales surge, almost emptying the store's stock of the particular T-shirt he was wearing.

The publication has revealed that the shop in question is Wild Bill’s Western Store in Downtown Dallas, owned by Cody and Julie Newport, who told the outlet that they knew in advance that Haaland was coming and had specially had part of the floor roped off for his arrival.

The duo revealed that Haaland bought not one, but multiple cowboy hats, the T-shirt, and a buckle with a longhorn for his belt.

He also opted to brand his initials and jersey number onto his purchases.

Owner Cody explained that the shirt is almost sold out in the store, with many of the footballer’s fans stopping by to get their own version, with online sales also surging.

The store expects a new shipment of the shirt on Thursday (2 July), so be quick if you want to snag one.

He added that Haaland ‘knew nothing’ about cowboy hats, but they had someone fit him for one and help him out.

Julie added, "He was saying this is literally the only time I have and the only time in Dallas. He had an amazing time, and we gave him that.”

Reacting in the comments of Haaland’s Instagram post, fans joked: “Looks like Texas has a new cowboy! Yeehawww,” and “YEEHAALAND.”

A third chimed in with: “10/10 no notes,” while a fourth added, “bro just knocking out side quests.”

And a fifth and sixth penned: “Favorite player right here” and “Glad to see you got some proper TX gear.”
