Dax Shepard has sparked backlash online after making 'creepy' comments about Sabrina Carpenter.

The 51-year-old American actor, who is married to Kristen Bell, made the controversial remarks during a recent episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, with Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández as a guest.

During a bizarre conversation, Shepard admitted he's 'newly obsessed' with the 26-year-old pop singer after being introduced to her music by his daughter and going to see her in concert recently. He shares Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11, with Bell.

"I just love her," he said, giving a special shoutout to her 2024 studio album Short n' Sweet.

He then went on to tell Hernandez, who is also in a relationship with architect Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, that he should date Carpenter.

Shepard asked the SNL star: "If I'm you again and I'm 28, I'm going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?"

Awkwardly asserting his loyalty to his girlfriend, Hernandez responded with: "I'm in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She's an architect. She's unreal. She went to Yale. But Sabrina's awesome."

Viewers have been left confused by the comments and have taken to social media to brand Shepard 'creepy' and 'disrespectful'.

One Twitter user penned: "Kirsten Bell, you need to come collect your creepy husband" and "Ohh that’s not- why did Dax say that??"

While a second added: "Marcello had to shut him down multiple times to mention his own girlfriend. It’s a bad look for a married man to be that obsessed with a pop star's love life."

And a third and fourth chimed in with: "Wtf is this conversation" and "dax is acting so weird, fr."

"I feel for sabrina because she’s constantly being sexualised by older men in the industry. Dax Shepard fixating on her during his podcast just felt like another example of someone not respecting her boundaries," wrote someone else.

While another social media user agreed: "Dax is such a creep & disrespectful af to his wife jfc" and someone else quipped: "Moooooom, dax shepard is being a creepy uncle again."

"Disrespected Kristen and Sabrina in one go, very nice dax," another brutally penned.

It's not the first time the celebrity couple have come under fire recently, as back in October, Bell faced heavy criticism for their 12th anniversary post.

She wrote on social media: "Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: 'I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would."

A lot of fans felt the caption was strange and especially tone deaf during domestic violence awareness month.

One hit out: "Kristen there’s no way you posted this during domestic violence awareness month."

While a second questioned: "And we didn't see any flags in this?"

Tyla has contacted a rep for Shepard for comment.
