Reason why Ben Affleck has been spotted wearing wedding ring

Fans of Ben Affleck have been left second guessing themselves this week, after the actor was seen donning a wedding ring on his left hand.

A snap of the unexpected accessory was captured by paparazzi on Monday (7 Apr) while the 52-year-old enjoyed a smoke break on the streets of Los Angeles, immediately peaking the interest of onlookers.

This is because, as far as we know, Affleck's divorce from Jennifer Lopez was finalised earlier this year - nine months after the 'On The Floor' singer reportedly filed to have their marriage officially ended.

They'd previously rekindled their noughties romance in 2021 after spending over a decade apart, and a year later, 'Bennifer' tied the knot.

Sadly, however, by 2023, the couple found themselves at the centre of break-up speculation, which spilled into 2024 when the pair enjoyed a number of red carpet night-outs without one another.

According to the official divorce filing, made public in August of last year, 55-year-old J.Lo cited 'irreconcilable differences' when asked to explain her divorce plan, and moved out of their plush home with her two children in the months that followed.

They were said to have been separated since the April prior.

Naturally, therefore, when father-of-three Affleck - who shares daughters Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and son Samuel, 13, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner - was seen flashing a wedding ring this week, questions were raised.

It turns out, however, that the ring-finger accessory is simply part of a costume, with the movie star and filmmaker currently working on a brand-new Netflix original movie, titled Animals.

As well as starring in the upcoming crime-thriller, which tells the story of LA Mayoral Candidate Milo Bradford's son being kidnapped for ransom slap-bang in the middle of his super-expensive political campaign, Affleck wrote the production. He'll also be directing it.

Anyway, while taking a break from filming, the on-screen star was seen puffing on a cigarette in new paparazzi snaps, donning a button-down shirt, a blazer and a pair of dark blue jeans - oh, and a wedding ring.

Affleck plays the married mayoral candidate in the series, which also stars the likes Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, and Steven Yeun.

An entertainment industry insider told PEOPLE Magazine that his latest movie is 'another one of Ben's passion projects', and that he's fully committed to the brand new role.

"He's both acting and producing," the source continued. "He’s always great to work with.

"Filming just kicked off, but it's been great so far. Ben's been in a great mood and super fun to work with."

The same insider told the publication that mother-of-two Lopez has also been focussing on her work again following the divorce and is set to star in a new rom-com titled Office Romance in the coming months.

They added that the actress and singer is 'looking forward to this new project', and is 'happy to be out of Los Angeles and spend more time in NYC'.
