Blake Lively's unexpected email to Ben Affleck revealed as part of legal battle

The actress filed a lawsuit accusing Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, as well as launching a smear campaign against her

A bizarre email sent from Blake Lively to fellow film star Ben Affleck has been unearthed this week, in which the actress complains about her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni.

For those in need of a reminder, the on-screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling book was released last year, seeing Lively and Baldoni star as leading love interests, Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid.

During the promotional tour of the production, fans immediately sniffed some tension between the pair, who were never spotted in one another's company.

In December 2024, it transpired that Lively, 38, had filed a lawsuit against 41-year-old Baldoni - who also directed the production - accusing both he and his team at Wayfarer Studios of sexual harassment and retaliation.

The Gossip Girl star also claimed he'd launched a 'smear campaign' against her, after first raised complaints about the conditions on-set conditions.

Baldoni responded, filing a $400 million countersuit against the actress, which was was dismissed back in June.

The high-profile trial is set to kick off in May of this year.

In anticipation of the bombshell legal proceedings, however, several court documents have come to light, showing both text and email exchanges Lively allegedly had with a number of fellow famous faces about her headline-hitting spat.

One text, for example, hears Lively's BFF Taylor Swift slam the actor as a 'b***h', whilst another sees Matt Damon's wife Lucy voice her support, referring to Baldoni as a 'creep'.

A third message - seemingly sent in the style of 'fan-mail' - meanwhile, was allegedly sent from Lively to fellow actor and movie producer, Ben Affleck.

She initially appeared to be appealing to the 53-year-old for his notes and advice on the tear-jerking drama she starred in alongside Baldoni, telling him: "Ben, It’s Blake. Don’t hang up."

Lively went on to claim she had a 'zero pressure ask' for Affleck, telling him: "I've just come out the other side (well almost) of the most upsetting experience I've ever had on a movie. The making of doc of this film would be more interesting than the movie could ever be.

"It's like if Wild Wild country, Fyre Festival and Going Clear had a baby with The Room."

Lively went on to tell the father-of-three she 'ended up rewriting and restricting the entire script' for the movie, branding the 'director' - later identified as Baldoni - a 'chaotic clown'.

"He and everyone he had on the movie is in a cult," the star claimed. "Anyway, now I'm in a bake off with him in the edit.

"He's been editing since, I kid you not, July, and they gave me 10 days to do my own pass. We have a bake off in 12 days. But I have a friends and family preview in NY on Saturday in the meantime so I can get one round of notes or feedback before we duke it out."

Lively went on to ask Affleck if he had any time to watch the production, and provide her with 'any ideas or notes'.

"Again, zero pressure," the mum-of-four insisted. "I just really want this to work after all I've put into it. This movie nearly killed me, and I can think of very few people who would be as prescriptive and insightful as I know you would be.

"Ryan [Reynolds] asked Matt [Damon] to watch also so I think he's watching this weekend. Good men showing up. I'm beyond grateful for that. Can you believe Jason Bourne is watching my movie!?!?!

"I'll get you an autograph one day. Don't worry."

Lively signed off the email as 'B'87', telling Affleck: "If you're still reading this, whoa. You're not nearly as busy as you think. or you're a very nice person."
