Now, unless you've been living under a rock for the past few days or so - you'll know all about the internet being thrown into a right frenzy ever since Barbra Streisand, 82, asked Melissa McCarthy, 53, outright if she’s ever taken Ozempic.

It all started when the Bridesmaids star uploaded a glamorous Instagram snap showing her walking arm-in-arm with film director pal Adam Shankman in Los Angeles on Sunday at CTG's The Gala 2024.

The post prompted Streisand to ask in a since-deleted comment: "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?"

Her comment later sparked a huge controversy amid her's and McCarthy's fan base leading the latter to post a video sharing her response to whole ordeal.

In an Instagram clip - captioned '@barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!' - she posted at the premier of her brand new movie Unfrosted, the star could be reading a magazine centred around the Funny Girl icon.

The camera then panned out, with Melissa exclaiming: "The takeaway. Barbra Streisand knows I exist!"

She continued, revealing the star 'reached out to me and she said I look good'.

"I win the day," she added.

Since it all first kicked off, Streisand has now also taken to social media to share her response to the whole situation and has cleared up the controversial comment she left under McCarthy's photo.

In a written statement shared to her 813.1k followers on X, formerly Twitter, she began: "OMG - I went on Instagram to see the photos we'd posted of the beautiful flowers I'd received for my birthday!

"Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album."

The A Star is Born actor continued: "She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment."

She rounded off the post admitting: "I forgot the world is reading!"

People clearly couldn't wait to share their reactions to Streisand's statement with one X user writing: "That’s what I thought. She thought it was a private message. It’s not that big of a deal."

A second disagreed: "So this post comes after you asking if she was on Ozempic? A post that you quickly deleted."

A final user joked: "In your defence, this is exactly how my grandma texts me: responds to something with well wishes and then immediately pivots into an unfiltered inquiry about my existence."

Very relatable indeed.
