Angelina Jolie has shared a heart-breaking admission about why she and her children have not stepped foot in the home they shared with Brad Pitt before the divorce.
The Wanted actress’s relationship with Pitt catapulted them to new heights and put them in the lead line-up of A-list celebrity couples. However, things got messy when Jolie’s shock divorce filing reached the ears of the public.
The now-49-year-old met Pitt on the set of Mrs And Mrs Smith in 2004, when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. The pair announced their divorce, and soon after, Jolie and Pitt confirmed their romance.
From there, they wed in 2014, and in 2016, she and her husband called time on their relationship.

The pair had welcomed six children together during their time, but after Jolie alleged violence, their divorce was rough and lasted eight years as they battled the courts.

The divorce was finalised last year, and since then, there have been changes.
For example, their children removed Pitt from their last names. Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne went on to do their own thing, some starting careers, and others studying. Mostly, the kids made their feelings clear on Jolie and Pitt’s divorce.

Shiloh's lawyer Peter Levine told People: "The media should be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following legal process."
As of 19 August 2024, her name was changed to Shiloh Nouel Jolie. Shiloh was born on May 27, 2006, and was the couple's first biological child.
But one thing they all collectively shared was that they never stepped foot back into the home they once shared with their father.
As of right now, Pitt and Jolie are still battling in court over the sale of her interests in their French winery Château Miraval. It was in court that Jolie spoke of their need to steer clear of the home.

The events leading to my need to separate from my ex-husband were emotionally difficult for me and our children," Jolie wrote in a declaration submitted to a California court on 9 October, which was obtained by E! News.
She continued: "Upon filing for divorce, I left him control (and full residency) of our family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic period."

She added that the memories are too painful for them to be able to reside in the home again.

She wrote: "To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce."
She went on to claim that the sale of their winery was talked about in 2017, with her wanting to give away her share.
"These discussions were always difficult for me, due to my deep emotional ties to our family home there and how our relationship ended," Jolie said. "Miraval was one of the first major investments we made together, and it was a focal point of our family life. We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there and I brought our twin children home there from the hospital.
"To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard," she added. "And it was especially difficult for the children to have their lives so disrupted."

Jolie went on to finalise a deal with Stoli Group's Tenute del Mondo in 2021 to purchase her half, which led to Pitt filing a lawsuit the following year against her, stating she sold her interest without his express permission.
