1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has shared her extremely honest reason as to why she posts so many selfies.

The 38-year-old reality TV star lost a staggering 500 pounds during her weight loss journey and has been documenting the process with her supportive followers on social media.

Earlier this year, Tammy took to Instagram to share an explanation as to why she shares so many updates and was met with an avalanche of support from her 809k followers.

In the clip, Tammy explained: "I take a lot of pictures, a lot of selfies - not because I think I look good.

"Well, I do a little bit, but mostly because I want to remember how big I was, what I look like, and I reflect, 'Dude, I was huge!'."

She continued to look back on her life when she previously weighed 500 pounds, noting: "I would not be able to sit in this chair!"

Tammy continued: "Then I was trying to be so focused on losing weight, I lost myself.

"Lost who I was, and I turned to alcohol instead of food.

"At the same time, I was still eating - so I was doing both, damaged in two different ways."

Admitting it would be 'so easy' to fall back into 'bad habits' and gain all the weight back, Tammy went on: "What was this all for? Wasted time, wasted money, waste effort."

Opening up about her mental health, she explained: "It's not a diet. They say it's a lifestyle change - it really is.

"I had a lot of demons, inner demons that I had to fight, and I'm still fighting. "You're not alone. You can do anything once you put your mind to it, never give up."

She was inundated with support from her followers in the comments, with one Instagram user writing: "I'm so proud of how far you have come!"

A second penned: "You are absolutely amazing Tammy."

"You are so right about this being a lifestyle change," agreed a third, while another chimed in: "Tammy it is amazing to see you make these incredible changes for the better.

"You are an inspiration and it is never too late to make good choices and lead the life you want to."

And a final Instagram user praised: "Gosh you've changed so much - not the obvious physical transformation but you seem so much more collected, focussed, calm and contented which is the real transformation as viewers of your journey we were most happy to see, a freedom in your mind, from those demons holding you back, is now emerging and it's truly inspiring!"
