Reality TV star Tammy Slaton has described undergoing her first job interview since beginning her weight loss journey.

Tammy and her sister Amy appear on the show 1000-lb Sisters which has documented their weight loss from extreme obesity, as well as the ways that it has changed their lives.

The show is now onto its eighth season, which is set to start airing this month. The two sisters live in the town of Dixon in Kentucky, and became morbidly obese for a large portion of their lives. Since starting the show, Tammy has lost more than 500lbs, and had bariatric surgery in 2022.

After losing so much weight, Tammy also underwent further surgery to remove excess skin which was left following her dramatic weight loss.

But in her everyday life, the change has also allowed Tammy to pursue other things, and she shared that she wanted to start volunteering.

"I was too fat to do anything," she said. "Now that I'm not that big I've been thinking about getting like a job, or volunteering, so I"m going to animal shelter today."

Tammy explained that she has not done this before, so was feeling nervous about putting herself out there, but was also not going to let that stop her.

"I've never done anything, so it's scary, but I think it's good for me to get out of my comfort zone," she said. "Not everybody's out to get me, and I need to learn that."

Tammy added: "I was nervous but also excited, this is my first job interview and I want to make a good impression, I don't wanna say something stupid."

Fans took to the comments on social media to share encouragement for Tammy in this.

One wrote: "Wow I am SO PROUD of her ! I have seen her from the beginning and the transformation of her mind and body is truly remarkable."

Another posted: "awesome. She can be so proud of herself."

It's not the only big news that Tammy has had recently either, with the TV star recently saying she had gotten engaged to her girlfriend Andrea Dalton.

In a post on social media, Andrea said: “Tammy and I met on a dating app. I had just got on there, I wasn’t on there very long, and I saw her and she saw me and we just started talking. And it’s been like every day since.”
