Stranger Things fans have experienced a very long break between season three and four. Unfortunately there haven't been any new episodes since season three dropped on Netflix in July 2019.

In the meantime, one Stranger Things fan claims to have figured out how Jim Hopper (David Harbour) managed to escape the Upside Down in season three.

As season 3 came to an end, there was one question on everyone's lips: "Is Jim Hopper really dead?." Well, one fan on Reddit claims that Hopper is actually stuck in Kamchatka, Russia.

Yep, you read that correctly.

Reddit User tarannn25 posted a picture of a scene from the season three finale when Hopper seemingly dies during his effort to close the gate to the Upside Down. The savvy viewer noted how he might have been able to escape with one detail.

"This scene from the last episode of season 3 clearly shows a ladder to climb down the platform," the Reddit user wrote. "And that's how I think hopper escaped successfully from there."

If you look closely at the platform you can see the silhouette of a ladder leading to the floor. Perhaps Hopper did use the ladder to escape, in what could be a very simple and humorous escape from a mysterious alternate dimension.

While there is no premiere date in sight for the fourth season of Stranger Things, the stars of the show, including David Harbour, and the creators have teased the new crop of episodes.

The actor has given fans some much needed info about his character's fate after the cliff-hanger at the end of season three.

Speaking to People, David said fans will see "a lot of your favourite characters doing the thing that you love them for... but you'll also see them twist it and turn it into other colours and other flavours."

David went into further detail regarding Hopper's "twist", saying: "One of the great things that you can see with Hopper is that he was a protector, he's a man of justice [and] he now has become a prisoner. He's trapped and he's isolated.

"And we get to see an entirely other colour of him that has been hinted at," Harbour added, before confirming season four is his "favourite" so far, thanks to Hopper's "new colours".

It sounds like season 4 will be a busy one for Hopper!
