Netflix has just announced Sex Education Season 2 will return on Friday, 17th January 2020.

That means there is less than two months to wait until the British teen comedy drama returns and we cannot wait.

Taking to Twitter, Netflix UK's account announced: "Get in losers, the new term is starting. Sex Education s2 streaming 17 January 2020."

The streaming giant also recently shared a video of the cast reading through the script for the next instalment and judging by their reactions it's going to be equally as funny as round one. Yesss!

The TV show received rave reviews after its first instalment earlier this year, unsurprising given that it was a breath of fresh air being equal parts funny, sweet and at times hilariously cringeworthy. So eight new episodes coming soon is music to our ears.

The first season was all about socially awkward student Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) who has a serious block when it comes to the bedroom, which is ironic given that he's acting as his school's unofficial sex therapist to earn some extra cash on request of cool-girl Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey).

With 40 million tuning into season one, it was unsurprising they've turned around a new season in less than a year of announcing its renewal.

But what will it be about?

Well, season two sounds as though it will continue to follow Otis' journey as he grows from a high school student into an adult.

Gillian Anderson plays Otis' mum, Jean Milburn in the series once again. (

Netflix said: "Late bloomer Otis must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola, whilst also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve."

It continues: "Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a Chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school, and new kids come to town who will challenge the status quo."

The new series will also see Maeve and Aimee's relationship grow stronger now she's ditched the "Untouchables" for good.

Plus, Lily is set to hit pause on her sexual endeavours to focus on her creative talents, and she'll find a new friend in Ola in the process.

Eric will once again be played by Ncuti Gatwa. (

We'll also see Jackson face yet more pressure from his parents - but not just in the world of sports this time.

Netflix also teased: "Jean and Jakob's relationship is discovered - and they have to learn how to operate as a blended family".

We can't wait for Otis' reaction to that one.

But it also sounds like Eric's new-found self-confidence attracts unfamiliar kinds of attention. We are so here for Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) finding love.

Sex Education Season 2 will land on Netflix on 17th January 2020.
