It's been more than two years since viewers were gripped by ITV drama Liar, so fans are sure to be delighted that we finally have a date for series two.

Yes, the thriller is back for the next instalment on Monday 2nd March 2020 - that's in less that two weeks!

The first instalment proved to be a watercooler watch, dealing with themes of rape, victim blaming, guilt and uncovering the truth with searing viewing.

Series one followed Laura Nielson (played by Joanne Froggatt), a newly single teacher, whose first date with surgeon Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd) ends with two very different perceptions of the night. Laura awoke to believe she had been raped, but Andrew - who has a son at Laura's school - insists the sex was consensual.

The series sees the teacher face a torrent of disbelievers, doubt and questioning of her own sanity before she eventually finds a way to prove Andrew was her rapist in the form of recording from his victims.

With his son Luke realising the truth about his dad and a warrant out for his arrest, the surgeon went on the run. But the series' huge twist comes right at the end, when viewers see Andrew's dead body in the marshes.

Showrunners Harry and Jack Williams confirmed the second series will be a classic whodunit, exploring a list of suspects who could have committed the murder.

ITV released a teaser clip, where Laura can be heard shouting: "There's a long list of people who had reason to kill him. I did not murder Andrew Earlham."

The writer confirmed Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey, One Last Thing) will be returning as Laura and Ioan Gruffudd (Forever, UnREAL) will be returning in the series' flashbacks, while Katherine Kelly will be joining the cast as as DI Karen Renton.

Just today, ITV released a whole bunch of sneak peak pictures, which could shed some light on the series.

Shots include Laura being interviewed by both DS Rory Maxwell (Danny Webb) and DI Karen Renton (Katherine Kelly) as well as the teacher being presented with an evidence bag, proving police are definitely viewing Laura as a person of interest.

Others show Andrew embracing Oliver Graham (Sam Spruell), who features in one episode of the first series. What's going on here, then?
