RuPaul's Drag Race UK Viewers Shook As Ginny Lemon Walks Off And Quits Mid Lip-Sync

Ooooh girl... that lip sync.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK had viewers floored last night when it aired one of the most jaw-dropping lip syncs of all time.

While we have to give props to Sister Sister's performance, it wasn't the actual lip-syncing that left viewers gobsmacked, it was Ginny Lemon's decision to walk off stage at the very start of the battle, essentially bowing out of the TV competition.

Ginny had received some mixed feedback after the Morning Glory challenge, in which they starred as a fictional weather girl under the watchful eye of guest judge, Lorraine Kelly.

As they stood in a toxic yellow dress for the monster mash runway, they were told by Ru: "I thought that the character development was there, but the problem was that it was one note continuously throughout the whole bit.

"What I'm looking for is to take it to that next level."

The criticism had clearly got to Ginny before they stepped into the lip sync.

"I'm absolutely devastated that the judges aren't getting what I'm giving," Ginny said in a confessional. "I can feel myself checking out. Ginny's closed for business today."

And it only got worse once they found out they were up against their best pal, Sister Sister in the race to stay in the competition.

As the song You Keep Me Hangin' On by Kim Wilde played, Ginny decided to leave on their own terms, saying in the confessional: "I'm gonna f*ck it up and be punk and do what I always do - and that's my own thing."

Ginny could then be seen strutting off the stage, never to return.

The shocking TV moment received quite a mixed response when it aired, with some branding it "iconic" while others thought it was unfair on the Queens who had left before, while desperately wanting to stay.

"DID I JUST WATCH GINNY LEMON WALK OFF?! #DragRace #DRAGRACEUK," one person wrote after Ginny's dramatic walk-off took place.

"GINNY LEMON?????? ARE U ALRIGHT??? #DragRace," concurred former guest judge, model Leomie Anderson.

As another viewer wrote: "Even tho it made good tv and I was shook, I'd be so pissed if I was one of the first 3 queens eliminated and saw that Ginny just walked out like that without even trying yet they all got eliminated for trying hard and wanting to stay..."

A fourth disagreed, praising the drag queen, and writing: "Ginny lemon is punk rock #DragRace."

Explaining their reasoning after walking off, Ginny said on the show: "I was up against my Sister Sister and I just couldn't. I love her too much. I'm ready to go home babs, I'm knackered.

"I would have regretted it if I had tried to fight against something I didn't want to fight against. I don't think I've tapped out of the competition. I did it for me."

Ginny then wrote a message to the fellow queens on the mirror, in lipstick (a custom for the Queen eliminated from the show), which featured their famous catchphrase.

"Witches unite. Fancy a slice?," it read.

Discussing the decision to quit with the BBC afterwards, Ginny, 31, said: "I did it for so many reasons.

"I think it's even hard to explain what was going through my head at the time."

The drag queen admitted they found Joe Black and Asttina Mandella's eliminations particularly difficult, given they were friends before entering the show.

"You could see me in the back sobbing," Ginny said. "Those two people were my friends before I went on the show and I couldn't imagine creating a new friendship with somebody like Sister.

"I did not want to compete with my sisters. It made me dreadfully sad anytime anybody went home."

Ginny came out as non-binary earlier in the series (

Ginny was heaped with praise earlier in the series when they came out as non-binary during an emotional conversation with fellow non-binary queen, Bimini Bon Boulash. Non binary is when people identify as neither male or female.

"I never thought about the impact that conversation with Sister and Bimini would have, and I'm flabbergasted by the reaction," they said on Twitter.

"Seeing myself on the screen like that was so raw and I'm still processing and form a response (sic).

"I just know especially in the most peculiar of times we can all seek solstice (sic) in knowing that we are all on that journey of loving oneself. Ourselves. Yourself. Especially to my non binary trans siblings or anyone who has felt like an outsider."

Whatever you think of Ginny's exit, their legacy will certainly go down in Drag Race history.
