Rebecca, the upcoming romantic thriller starring Lily James and Archie Hammer, is landing next month and we have a sneaky feeling it's going to give us a few sleepless nights.

The movie - released on Netflix on Wednesday 21st October - is an adaptation of the 1938 novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier.

Scheduled for global release, it tells the story of a young woman, Mrs. de Winter (played by Lily James), who marries wealthy widower, Maxim de Winter (Archie Hammer).

However, the young wife soon discovers that the home they live is in haunted by the memory of his late first wife, Rebecca.

Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas), the stately manor's head housekeeper and maid of Rebecca as a child, torments Maxim's new wife following his remarrying, believing she's trying to take the place of her beloved Rebecca.

Announcing the release, Netflix said: "After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Hammer), a newly married young woman (James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband's imposing family estate on a windswept English coast.

"Naive and inexperienced, [Rebecca] begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim's first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley's sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers."

It all sounds a bit creepy, don't you think? And the trailer, released earlier this month, seems just as sinister.

In it, we see the housekeeper's evil torment at play where she convinces Mrs. de Winter into wearing the same dress to a ball that Rebecca once wore, and later tries to encourage her to jump out of the window.

"She's still here, can you feel her?" Mrs. Danvers taunts. "I wonder what she's thinking about you, taking her husband, using her name."

The novel was originally adapted in 1940 by famed director Alfred Hitchcock, winning the Academy Award for best Picture that year.

Rebecca lands on Netflix on Wednesday 21st October.
