Everything We Know About The New Disney 'Peter Pan' Live Action Remake

We cannot WAIT.

With the Disney Peter Pan live action film about to start filming, slowly details are starting to trickle in, getting us hyped.

Just to be clear, it is a completely separate film from Fox Searchlight's film Wendy which recently landed in cinemas and will start filming this April in Canada, according to Discussing Film.

Its film title has been named (for now) as Peter Pan and Wendy, but what exactly do we know about the upcoming movie?

Who is starring?

Ever Anderson (pictured with mum Milla Jovovich) is set to play the role of Wendy (
PA)

Ever Anderson, daughter of Milla Jovovich will play the role of Wendy Darling, whilst Alexander Molony will play Peter Pan, as reported by Variety.

There is no news on Michael or Peter or Tinkerbell just yet, or any other cast members.

Will it follow Disney's animated film exactly or will it be an iteration?

Naturally, being a Disney remake it will surely follow down similar lines, plus all iterations of Peter Pan are based on the J.M. Barrie Peter and Wendy novel anyway.

However, if Disney's latest live-action release Mulan is anything to go by, we could see significant changes - and that's gone down a storm with so maybe shaking it up is a good thing?

Disney's 1953 version of the film is the most popular to date (and there have been many) so we're certain it'll nail the live-action version too.

Though we have to say, we're personally big fans of Hook - Steven Spielberg's live-action iteration.

Universal produced a live-action 'Peter Pan' back in 2003 and Jeremy Sumpter played Pan (

When will filming begin?

It has been widely reported that filming will begin in April in Canada, so surely we'll get a sneak peek at the actors in action very soon.

Originally however, the film's director, David Lowry (Pete's Dragon) announced to New Zealand based platform Stuff back in 2018 that, "people can count" on the film being created in the country, so it has had a slight change in location.

They certainly won't be rushing it either, with him adding: "It took a long time to get the script to this point. I've been working on it for two years, but neither Disney nor myself wants it to just be an assembly line product. We want it to be special."

It has not yet been reported who will play Michael, Peter, any of the Lost Boys, or Tinkerbell (
Disney)

Where will it be shown?

Screen Rant reported that the movie will be a Disney+ exclusive, similar to Disney's re-make of Lady and the Tramp which went straight to the streaming platform last November.

However, we have not seen confirmation of this, so there is a possibility it will still head to cinemas.

Tyla has approached Disney for comment.

When will it air?

Filming has not yet begun, so therefore the release date has not been confirmed.

We can't wait to get a sneak peek and once the Tyla team knows further details, we'll of course update you.
