The trailer looks terrifying enough.

The Grudge was *the* scary film when we were growing up and now, Netflix is adapting the 2004 horror into a series.

Arriving on 3rd July, Ju-On: Origins, will be part of the long-running Ju-On franchise (also referred to as The Grudge) which included several films and spin-offs.

According to Netflix, the horror was based on real life events which occurred over a period of 40 years.

It's believed the series will be similar to the original movie, in which a man murders his family when he finds out his wife has been having an affair.

What remains after the harrowing killing spree is a curse on the house that goes on to haunt and terrorise whoever occupies it.

There's plenty of blood, violence and of course, the creepy house (

The series is expected to delve into the backstory of the franchise, which began with Ju-On: The Curse in 2000.

Netflix explain the series will focus on the true events of the horror, including telling the stories of those who were at the beginning of the curse. The streaming platform also promises to give a "raw look at the chain of terror" that greets anyone who comes into contact with the house.

Seriously, we're spooked already.

And if the trailer is anything to go by, we'll be in for a few sleepless nights. There's plenty of heart racing moments, blood, violence and very creepy behaviour.

And of course, there's the very spooky house. But will those living there *finally* be able to escape the curse? We'll have to wait and see.

The series, which is in Japanese with English subtitles, stars Yoshiyoshi Arakawa, Yuina Kuroshima, Riri, Koki Osamura, Seiko Iwaido and Kai Inowaki. Meanwhile, Sho Miyake will direct.

The franchise has 13 films in total, including The Grudge 2 (2006) and The Grudge 3 (2009). Ju-On: Origins will be the first series, however.

We've got a feeling we'll be watching this one through our fingers...
