Louis Theroux launched his brand new podcast series today and it's brightening up our mornings already.

The documentary maker, 49, has been recording the podcast from home and the first episode, which features a conversation with writer and fellow documentary maker, Jon Ronson, aired this morning on BBC Sounds.

Just like the rest of us, Louis has spent the last few weeks locked down. But, determined not to waste time, he came up with the idea of making a podcast, which he's recorded from his home.

The podcast, Grounded With Louis Theroux, will see the journalist and presenter interview a series of high-profile guests, including Lenny Henry, Boy George and Miriam Margolyes, with each episode lasting around an hour.

Louis admits he's even been recording some of the episodes in his PJs. Oh Louis!

"I've assembled a series of interviews from my own home. For some episodes I may even be in my pyjamas," he explained in an introductory clip.

"I'll be talking to people I find interesting, people whose work I admire, people who in normal circumstances I might not have a chance to speak to.

"[...] The idea is that we can dig a little deeper, peel back the layers and find out who they really are, a free flowing exchange of ideas, reflecting on what's going on now but also looking back on the past.

"[...] Let's face it, you've got nothing better to do."

Listeners are already hooked to the series, with several Louis fans raving about the first episode already, which features a conversation with writer and fellow documentary maker, Jon.

The pair discuss professional rivalry and all things lockdown.

One fan wrote: "Loving @louistheroux's inaugural podcast kicking off the week in style. Fantastic interview with rival @jonronson, in which Louis is v honest about the 'little bit of evil' mixed in with his feelings towards his longtime career 'doppelgänger'."

While another said: "Hooray, Louis Theroux's done a podcast! First ep is Jon Ronson. Good bit of news for a lockdown Monday morning."

One fan, replying to Louis' tweet about the ep, wrote: "Just listened to it, loved it. I've wanted you to make a podcast for ages as I regularly listen to your appearances with Richard Herring and Joe Rogan. Can't wait for the next one!"

Subsequent episodes will be released every Monday before broadcasting on Radio 4 the following week.

I think we can all agree a weekly dose of Louis is exactly what we need during this uncertain time...

The first episode is available to listen to on on BBC Sounds now and will be broadcast on Radio 4 on Wednesday 6th May at 8pm.
