The cast of Parks and Recreation are reuniting for a special episode in a bid to raise money for coronavirus charities.

The half an hour long ep will feature all of the original cast, as well as some guest appearances and will raise money for Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund.

Stars returning include Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe and Jim O'Heir.

The ep - which has been shot from cast members' homes - will focus on civil servant Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) in present day, as she struggles with the social distancing guidelines.

Keeping a check on all her friends during lockdown, the Pawnee politician is determined to stay connected amidst the international crisis.

Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC said: "In such uncertain times, we can't think of anyone better than Leslie Knope to unite our country with her unbridled enthusiasm and compassion.

"A huge thank you to Mike Schur and the cast of 'Parks and Recreation' for putting this wonderful special together and bringing a smile to all our faces while raising money for such a worthwhile cause."

Meanwhile, creator Mike explained the cast emailed him back in less than an hour after he reached out.

"Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money," he said.

"I sent a hopeful email to the cast and they all got back to me within 45 minutes. Our old Parks and Rec team has put together one more 30-minute slice of (quarantined) Pawnee life and we hope everyone enjoys it. And donates!"

The special comes five years after Parks and Recreation last aired. The show ran on NBC for six years, from 2009 to 2015 and focussed on a group of employees in the Parks Department of fictional town Pawnee, in Indiana.

Amy Poehler starred as over-achiever Leslie Knope, whose ultimate goal was to become President of the United States.

In a teaser clip for the special, Amy says: "Hey, it's Amy Poehler inviting you to a very special Parks and Rec, all shot from our homes.

"We, along with our neighbours at State Farm are coming together to raise money for Feeding America and we hope you'll join us!"

The one-off ep airs Thursday 30th April on NBC. We're desperate to watch the special, so while a UK air date is yet to be announced, we've got everything crossed it arrives soon...
