In TV news we've definitely been waiting for, The Baby-Sitters Club is coming back and it's making all our nostalgic dreams come true!

Based on the popular teen novels written by Ann M. Martin and published between 1986 and 2000, the updated TV series will be shown on Netflix.

We're expecting big things from this revival. Here's what we know so far...

Is The Baby-Sitters Club revival confirmed?

Netflix confirmed a reboot of the popular show earlier this year, with a post on the show's official Instagram page.

"Meet The Baby-Sitters Club! Coming soon to @netflix"

What do we know about The Baby-Sitters Club reboot so far?

In a teaser for the show, the streaming service says: "Ann M. Martin's beloved books get a modern update in this series that follows a group of girlfriends and their homegrown babysitting business."

There were over 200 Baby-Sitter Club books in total, so we can expect lots of content, but it's not the first time the books have made it onto our screens.

The books were adapted twice in the Nineties, first for a Nickelodeon series in 1990, and secondly, as a popular 1995 film, starring Schuyler Fisk, Rachael Leigh Cook and Larisa Oleynik.

Earlier this year Netflix confirmed they'd be streaming 10 new episodes later this year, to be set in Stoneybrook, Connecticut, just like the books.

"The themes of The Baby-Sitters Club still resonate 30 years after the original book series was released, and there has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs," said Melissa Cobb, VP of kids and family content at Netflix.

"Together with Ann M. Martin and the team at Walden Media, our ambition is to contemporize [sic] the storylines and adventures of this iconic group of girlfriends to reflect modern-day issues."

What's The Baby-Sitters Club about?

Taking inspiration directly from the books, the show will follow friends Kristy, Claudia, Dawn, Stacey and Mary Anne, who set up a baby-sitting service for their friends and neighbours, while also having to deal with life issues.

The teen entrepreneurs grappled issues such as boys, divorce, illnesses and moving home in the novels, so we can expect similar content in the reboot.

Who will star in The Baby-Sitters Club reboot?

Five up-and-coming actresses will play the parts of Kristy, Dawn, Mary Anne, Stacey and Claudia, as teased by the show's official Instagram page.

Club president and founder of the Baby-Sitters Club, Kristy Thomas, will be played by relative newcomer Sophie Grace. Her previous credits include short films and 2018's film, Terror In The Woods.

Meanwhile, the club's vice president, Claudia Kishi, will be played by Momona Tamada, an actress best known for playing young Lara Jean in the To All The Boys I Loved Before trilogy.

Malia Baker will play club secretary Mary Anne Spier, Shay Rudolph will play treasurer Stacey McGill and Xochitl Gomez will take on the role of Dawn Schafer, who moves to Stoneybrook.

The show is already tipped to be a hit, with a Nineties icon playing a key role in the show.

In news we can get on board with, Clueless's Alicia Silverstone will play Kristy's mum, Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, while Nurse Jackie's Mark Feuerstein will play her love interest, Watson Brewer.

When will The Baby-Sitter's Club reboot air?

Netflix has confirmed that the show will air on 3rd July with 10, half-hour episodes - meaning it'll be back in our lives in a matter of weeks.

It's officially marked in our calendars...
