Now there's a blast from the past: who remembers The Baby-Sitters Club?!

The series of kid's novels by Ann M. Martin, released between 1986 and 2000, followed the lives of a group of teenage girls who started a babysitting service.

We ALL wanted to be a Kristy, Dawn, Mary Anne, Stacey, or Claudia back in the day, as we followed the ups and downs of their adolescence and learnt some serious life lessons along the way.

Well fans of the book series can rejoice: they are being rebooted for a Netflix series, and we finally know some cast members!

Chick-flick royalty Alicia Silverstone will be starring in the remake, but not as one of the babysitters, rather Kristy Thomas's mother, Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer. West Wing star Mark Feuerstein will be playing her love interest, Watson Brewer.

There's currently no word on who will play Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer, but we're sure it'll be a career catapulting moment for whoever gets the gigs.

The streaming service has ordered 10 episodes in the series, and like the books, they will be set in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

The books, of which there were over 200, followed the group of girl teens as they dealt with issues like boys, parents divorce, illness and moving homes, all while running their babysitting business - so we're sure to get some similar storylines in the series.

"The themes of The Baby-Sitters Club still resonate 30 years after the original book series was released, and there has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs," said Melissa Cobb, VP of kids and family content at Netflix.

"Together with Ann M. Martin and the team at Walden Media, our ambition is to contemporize [sic] the storylines and adventures of this iconic group of girlfriends to reflect modern-day issues."

Columbia Pictures

This isn't the first time the best-selling book series (it sold over 176 million copies worldwide) has been adapted. In 1990, The Baby-Sitters Club spawned a HBO and Nikelodeon TV series of just 13 episodes.

Later in 1995, a film was released starring Schuyler Fisk, Rachael Leigh Cook, Larisa Oleynik, Bre Blair, Tricia Joe, Zelda Harris, and Stacy Linn Ramsower.
