A new true-crime documentary will tell the story of three of the USA's deadliest mass shootings from the perspective of the survivors, including one who tells the story of heroic courage amongst the tragedy.

Airing on Saturday 15th February at 11pm on Quest Red, In Memoriam will reveal what happened on the night of the 1st October 2017, during the Las Vegas Strip shooting, when concertgoers who were enjoying Las Vegas's Route 91 Harvest Music Festival were targeted by gunman Stephen Paddock.

As music fans enjoyed the atmosphere, Paddock killed 58 people and wounded 489 others in 10 minutes, in the deadliest shooting carried out by an individual in US history.

Survivors of the Las Vegas shooting as well as survivors of the Sutherland Baptist church and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings will be interviewed as part of the documentary.

Survivor Paige Melanson told of how, while enjoying the music festival, shots were fired and people started screaming.

"I don't know how, I don't know when, but I know I was shot very early because it was before people had even started yelling," Paige recalls.

As the gunfire increased, Paige realised her Mum too had been shot.

"We get a little closer, she's not moving, she's face first on the grass and her palms are up so obviously it hits us, 'Oh my God, she's been shot.'"

Paige then recalls a retired firefighter coming over to them and rolling her Mum over, before seeing her upper right chest covered in blood and telling Paige and her sister to get to safety.

"So he goes 'Are you listening to me? You cannot help your Mum if you're dead. You need to leave.'"

Paige continues: "He looked at us and he goes, 'I will stay with your Mum the entire time. But I will only stay if you guys leave.'"

Meanwhile, Jameson Snead, one of the survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting almost two years ago, told of his shock at finding out that his friend, who had also been living with him, was the school shooter.

"I thought I knew everything about him," Jameson explains, "He didn't give me any warning whatsoever, and if he did, I would have told my parents."

"It's just unbelievable, what he did."

In Memoriam airs on Quest Red, Sky channel 149 and Virgin channel 159 on Saturday 15th February.
