‘Love Island’ Star Tommy Fury Is The Shakespeare Of Our Time And Is Not Getting The Recognition He Deserves

The 20-year-old boxer is slowly cementing his status as the wordsmith of the villa.

We all laughed when he struggled to make a peppermint tea. We giggled watching him attempt to cook omelette. And eyebrows were raised when he thanked pal Curtis Pritchard for "refreshifying" his memory.

But after last night's romantic monologue, there's no doubt in our minds that Tommy Fury is the unspoken Shakespeare of our time.

Not convinced? Let us count the ways...

It's no secret that Tommy, 20, is not the most articulate of chaps. From his thoughts on gut health to "getting chived", he's provided endless entertainment in the villa with his musings.

However, Tommy is slowly but surely proving himself the wordsmith of Love Island - and it's high time he got the recognition he deserves.

On Thursday night, after Molly-Mae was left upset by Lucie Donlan's advances on her man, Tommy reassured her with the sort of speech that would make Mr. Darcy himself look like Jay from The Inbetweeners.

After Molly-Mae admitted she could 'see herself falling in love' with her boxing beau, he replied without a moment's hesitation: "I think I already am. How's that for factor 50?"

Molly visibly melted (along with hearts up and down the country), but Tommy wasn't done yet.

"For me, you are the only girl in the world, and I mean that," he declared. "I feel like I'm tearing up. Can you see my eyes watering?

"I've got no interest in any other girl on this planet other than you, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. When I'm not near you I don't feel like me, and I genuinely mean that."

He added: "This is cringey as f** but you complete me. Every day I'm in here, every hour, I wanna make you smile. I wanna make you laugh. I wanna make you feel like you're the only girl in the world, because that's how you should be treated. I really mean that."

How's that for poetry?

While Tommy's speech clearly went down well with Molly-Mae, fans at home were equally smitten.

"These two are too much. I can't," one tweeted, while another called him "hubby goals".

One fan declared him "an angel on earth" while one wrote: "Where can I find my own Tommy Fury?"

Others praised him for taking inspiration from Rihanna lyrics ('only girl in the world') and Tom Cruise in 1996 rom-com Jerry Maguire ('you complete me').

See? Positively Shakespearian.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
