A man who has had a new baby in his 70s says he's got no regrets about welcoming a new child into his life.

Canadian musician and record producer David Foster has been talking about another late dip into fatherhood as last year he welcomed a new baby into his life.

Now 72 years old, the 16 time Grammy award winner welcomed son Rennie into his life with wife Katharine McPhee back in February 2021.

Foster told People 'every day is an adventure' with his young son and said while he didn't think having a new baby in his 70s was something, he said: "I haven't regretted a single day of it."

The multiple Grammy award winner said things were actually different this time compared to bringing up his five older children.

He said: "I've loved every single day. It's the standard thing of like, 'Oh, well you were so young when you had your children and you were working day and night, you never saw them.'

"And there is some truth to that, sadly, for my [older] kids." I was just working a lot. Even though I'm working a lot now, I'll cancel anything just to hang with him. It's just different."

Foster has five daughters from previous relationships; Alison, Amy, Sara, Erin and Jordan, with the eldest being 52 and the youngest 36.

The musician has said his son is already showing some talent with the piano and drums, though at not even two years old a future career is not set in stone.

He said: "Kids, strangely, will do something for a while and then it'll amaze you and then they just drop it and they don't do it anymore.

"So we don't know if the drumming thing is here to stay - I'd rather he have a tennis racket in his hand than a drumstick to tell you the truth.

"But anyway, if he ends up being a drummer, that would be great too. He loves watching our drummer, JR Robinson."

This is a bit complicated but it's a decent bit of trivia to pull out with your friends, so the first step in this convoluted chain is Gigi Hadid's mother Yolanda marrying David Foster back in 2011.

They got divorced in 2017, but before that he was married to Linda Thompson, who herself had previously been married to Caitlyn Jenner back in the 80s before transitioning.

Thompson and Jenner had two kids who are Kendall's half-brothers, so Kendall Jenner's half-brother's ex-stepdad is also Gigi Hadid's ex-stepdad, which is possibly the most convoluted way anyone has ever been related to someone else.
