Maya Jama appeared to cheekily mention her exes during Monday's first episode of Love Island, and it didn't go unnoticed by fans. Watch the clip below:

The 28-year-old television host officially took the reins of the nation's biggest dating show and she's already getting rave reviews after only one episode.

In this year's series, the boys had to step forward for the girls they wanted to couple up with. After the first couples of the season got together, Maya shared some words of wisdom with a reference to her past relationships.

Fans watching at home immediately took to Twitter to discuss, with many people referencing the Bristolian's high-profile past relationships with rapper Stormzy and NBA player Ben Simmons.

Maya gave the couples a warning.

"Don't forget finding your perfect match is never that simple," she warned. "Trust me, I know."

"No Maya is dropping little indirects you know 'We don’t take L’s over here' and 'Finding the one is never easy, trust me I know'. Ooooh girl, I feel you," one fan tweeted.

Another viewer replied to this tweet and added: "Stormzy crying into his pillow rn."

A third Love Island fan wrote: "Trust me i know’ LMAOOO MAYA GOT STORMZY HUFFING AND PUFFING MAN."

While a fourth used the crying emoji and wrote: "'Trust me, I know' Maya please."

People are obsessing over the line, with another person writing: "‘Trust me I know’ oooo give us the tea Maya baby."

And another viewer penned: "Not the shade Maya with the 'Trust me I know'."

Maya dated the ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper from 2016 to 2019. The couple lived together in southwest London and shared a dog named Enzo.

Once they split, Stormzy - real name Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. - said he ‘made mistakes’ in their relationship.

He even publicly apologised to the Glow Up presenter for ‘doing the dirt’ and ‘making a public disrespect that needed a public apology’.

Last week, Maya opened up about her relationship with Stormzy, and said she had no idea public interest in their coupling would become ‘such a big thing’.

Last year, it was rumoured that Maya was engaged to Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons, however, they called off their engagement in August.

Representatives for Maya declined to comment when approached by Tyla last year.

Ben previously dated musician Tinashe and model, Kendall Jenner.
