Lucy Mecklenburgh Shares Sweet Meaning Behind Baby Girl's Name

The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed the sweet meaning behind her newborn daughter's name.

Lucy welcomed her second child with Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas last month, though it wasn't until a few weeks later that she revealed the parents had finally settled on a name for the newborn.

Lucy and Ryan now share two children together, with their son Roman becoming an older brother as they welcomed Lilah Rae Thomas into the world.

Announcing her daughter's name with a post on Instagram, Lucy wrote: "Yay!! I finally have a name!!! Lilah Rae Thomas."

The mother shared a picture of Lilah along with the announcement, prompting fans to describe both the baby and her name as 'beautiful'.

"Beautiful name for a beautiful little girl," one fan wrote, while another commented: "Such a pretty name!"

Many Instagram users responded to discuss similarities between Lilah's name and that of their own or their children's, and it turns out the name actually has some wholesome meanings behind it.

Lilah is a name of Arabic and Hebrew origin, meaning 'delicate' and 'night beauty'.

Lucy has been regularly updating fans throughout her pregnancy and birth and recently opened up about the challenges and demands of being a mother to a young baby.

"I honestly did forget how demanding these first few weeks are! With Roman I didn’t have a two-year-old to look after and I also had nowhere to be as it was lockdown. It’s such a different experience this time!

"Feeding is still very full on especially in the evenings BUT she is sleeping 11pm to 4am most nights which is a god send. I am reminding myself that it gets easier and to enjoy this part not worrying about the washing, if I’m late getting somewhere or that my diet is mainly biscuits and bagels," the TOWIE star wrote.

Lucy previously told her followers the birth of her second child was 'really positive and calm', as well as 'quite quick and so special'. She said having two children can sometimes feel like a 'military operation', but assured she and Ryan 'work as a team' to look after the two youngsters.

She apparently handles breastfeeding and nappy changing for the newborn, while Ryan is often in charge of bathing, feeding and playing with Roman.

As well as the children he shares with Lucy, Ryan has a 13-year-old daughter, Scarlett Thomas, from his previous relationship with Tina O'Brien.
