Lizzo praised Beyoncé during her acceptance speech at tonight’s Grammys, saying the singer ‘changed her life’.

Lizzo won Record of the Year with 'About Damn Time', beating fellow nominees ABBA, Adele, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, Brandi Carlile featuring Lucius, Mary J Blige, Steve Lacy and Beyoncé (who enjoyed a record-breaking night).

Winning the award, Lizzo made it crystal clear that, like the rest of us, she was a massive Beyoncé fan.

A clearly emotional Lizzo said: “Beyoncé - whew - in the fifth grade I skipped school to see you perform. My sister, she got me out of school - it was literature, I’m good.”

She then sought out Beyoncé in the audience and spoke to her directly, saying: “You changed my life. You sang that gospel medley and the way you made me feel, I was like, ‘I want to make people feel this way with my music’. So thank you so much.

“You clearly are the artist of our lives. I love you. God bless you all.”

Lizzo then began bouncing up and down with excitement - and, honestly, who can blame her?

While giving her speech, the camera cut to Beyoncé who could be seen standing up, beaming at Lizzo while she spoke and cheered her on.

Although she lost out to Lizzo in this particular award, it’s safe to assume that Beyoncé will be pretty chuffed with how the night played out.

The singer made her way into the history books this evening after officially picking up the most Grammy wins of any artist ever.

Beyoncé scooped her 32nd Grammy win tonight, after coming out on top in several categories including Best Traditional R&B Performance for 'Plastic Off The Sofa' and Best R&B Song with 'Cuff It'.

As well as winning numerous awards for her solo career, Beyoncé also won a clutch of awards with Destiny’s Child.

In a post on Instagram, Beyoncé shared a long list of thanks, including a message to her fans.

Sharing a snap of herself holding three Grammy trophies, she wrote: “We won 3 y’all! To my Hive, thank y’all so much for all of your love and loyalty! Big thank you for the BREAK MY SOUL and CUFF IT wins!!! To The Dream, Tricky, HOV, and Big Freedia. I love y’all!

“Syd, I’ve always been such a fan of yours. Thank you.

“Nova Wav, Morten Ristorp, Raphael Saadiq, and Nile Rodgers, thank you for pouring into CUFF IT.

“Big thanks to Sabrina Claudio, Nick Green and Patrick Paige II. PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA is my favorite song on RENAISSANCE most days. It’s hard to pick though. Haaa.

“It feels great to be honored for the vocal performance. Thank you to all the talented vocalists who killed those beautiful TikTok renditions!

“I feel very grateful and filled with joy!”
