Beyoncé shares important life lesson Dolly Parton taught her in heartbreaking tribute

Beyoncé has paid a special tribute to Dolly Parton, after the music legend passed away at the age of 80.

Parton's representatives shared the heartbreaking news, and it was confirmed that the icon had died following a 'brief battle with cancer'.

Celebrities and music fans have been sharing their adoration and love for Parton, and Beyoncé has added her thoughts after they worked together.

The duo had teamed up for Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' album, with a reimagined version of Parton's 1973 smash hit 'Jolene'.

Now, the former Destiny's Child star has shared a touching tribute on her website, dedicated to her 'north star'.

“Dolly, you were the barometer. The north star,” she wrote.

“Bold and brilliant. Talented and tenacious. You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself," Beyoncé continued.

"I am grateful for your art, your heart, your generosity, your humour, your entrepreneurship.”

“I’m honoured that I had the privilege to work with you. I will treasure that forever,” she added.

“Thank you for your profound impact on the world. You are an angel who has made this world a happier place because of your joyful art," the tribute reads.

She signed off with: "You are truly one of one. Rest peacefully.”

As well as 'Jolene', Parton made several memorable cameos on Beyoncé's album.

“Hey miss Honey B, it’s Dolly P. You know that hussy with the good hair you sing about?” Parton said, in reference to the iconic 'Becky with the good hair' lyric.

"Reminding me of someone I knew back when, except she has flaming locks of auburn hair, bless her heart. Just a hair of a different colour but it hurts just the same," she continued.

The groundbreaking album saw Beyoncé make history, when she became the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in the modern history of country music.

Parton sang Beyoncé's praises following the achievement: “I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album."

“So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”

Beyoncé is just one of many celebrities to share their love for Parton.

Taylor Swift also shared her thoughts on the country legend's passing.

"A world without Dolly doesn’t feel possible, real, or right,” Swift wrote.

“But because of the eternally generous way she spent her time on this earth and the countless lives she changed for the better, her legacy will be an everlasting one.”

“She was truly the gift that kept on giving. Dolly gave us someone to look up to while encouraging us to be who we are as individuals," she added.

"Somehow she was true grace and true grit, all in one dazzling person. She possessed the softest heart when it came to the struggles of others, and a backbone of steel to defend her own self worth as an artist.”

Swift added: “Along with her other fans, I am so grateful for all of it.”

She also praised Parton's philanthropy: "For the millions of books she provided children all over the world so that they might fall in love with stories the way she did. For the tightropes she walked so that young girls like me could grow up dreaming of joining the circus too."
