Lady Gaga has praised Taylor Swift for being so open about her struggles with an eating disorder.

Gaga herself has been very open about her problems with anorexia and bulimia, something she said has affected her life since she was 15.

Speaking at a young women's conference hosted by Maria Shriver in 2012, Gaga revealed her story after a young girl in the audience revealed that she was struggling with an eating disorder.

She said: "I used to throw up all the time in high school.

"It’s really hard, but you’ve got to talk to somebody about it."

She continued: "Weight is still a struggle. Every video I’m in, every magazine cover, they stretch you — they make you perfect.

"It’s not real life
I’m gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop.

"Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it’s affecting kids your age. And it’s making girls sick."

Meanwhile, Swift has also been open about her own eating disorder on her 2020 documentary Miss Americana.

In a clip from that doc uploaded to a Taylor Swift fan page, the music star said: "I don't care as much if somebody points out that I have gained weight, it's just something that makes my life better.

"The fact that I'm a size six instead of a size 00, that wasn't how my body was supposed to be, I just didn't really understand that at the time.

"I would have defended it to anybody who said, 'I'm concerned about you'.

"I was like, 'What are you talking about? Of course I eat, it's perfectly normal, I just exercise a lot'.

"And I did exercise a lot. But I wasn't eating."

The 'Love Story' singer continued: "There's always some standard of beauty that you're not meeting.

"Because, if you're thin enough, then you don't have that ass that everybody wants.

"But if you have enough weight on you to have an ass, then your stomach isn't flat enough."

Many fans might have spotted that Lady Gaga commented under the TikTok with her official account on the video platform.

Probably unaware that it is a fan account, Gaga said: "That’s really brave everything you said. Wow."
