A Kim Kardashian lookalike has died after suffering a heart attack while recovering from plastic surgery.
Christina Ashten Gourkani, who was known as Ashten, sadly passed away at a hospital in California last Thursday (20 April).
Confirming the news, the 34-year-old's family said they were heartbroken by the loss.
They have since set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the costs of Ms Gourkani's funeral, which is due to take place next month.
In the post, the family said that the model's 'sudden and tragic' death is being investigated after a medical procedure allegedly 'took a turn for the worse'.
The statement says: "It is with deep sorrow and an immensely heavy broken heart that we have to share the most shattering, unfortunate and unexpected passing of our beautiful beloved daughter and sister Christina Ashten Gourkani.
"In the early morning hours at approximately 4:31am on 4/20/2023 our family received a tragic phone call from a family member who was frantically screaming and crying hysterically on the other end of the line....Ashten is dying...Ashten is dying...A phone call that instantly shattered our world and will forever haunt our family for the rest of our lives.
"After arriving at the hospital shortly after the phone call our family continued living a nightmare as we were informed that her health and wellbeing had continued to decline in a downward spiral for the worse after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
"Her sudden and tragic passing is currently being investigated as a homicide related to medical procedure that took a turn for the worse."
Ms Gourkani's family said that she had a 'gift of connecting with people' and will be deeply missed.
The tribute goes on: "She was such a caring and loving free spirit that always took the time to bring a smile to anyone's face she crossed paths with.
"She was the kind of person that would kneel down and talk to children at eye level, she searched for the lonely person in the corner and made them feel special as she has such a gift of connecting with people.
"Ashten's spirit is a light that will forever carry on to her loved ones around her and those that she has left behind."
Concluding the post, they said: "Christina Ashten Gourkani you will forever be our guardian angel."
Since news of her passing was announced, fans and followers have taken to social media to share their condolences with Ms Gourkani's family.
Fellow model, Mary Magdalene, said she was devastated by the news.
"I don't know her, [but] I would always just randomly see her on Instagram and think she was really pretty but that is so sad she just died from plastic surgery," she wrote.
"It is so scary because you really just never know when you're gonna die from [plastic surgery] omg."
While influencer Kristhin Gomez added: "I still can't believe it.
"When I saw your story I was hoping it wasn't true... we will miss you so much. Always alive in our hearts."
