Kerry Katona urges Molly-Mae to change Bambi's name over bullying fears

Kerry Katona has spoken out against ex-Love Islanders Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury's choice of baby name.

Kerry Katona has spoken out against ex-Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury's choice of baby name.

Last week, they announced the safe arrival of their baby girl on 23 January, 2023.

A day later, the couple - who met on ITV reality show Love Island - revealed their daughter's name: Bambi.

The name has sparked a heated debate online and the latest person to weigh in is none other than former Atomic Kitten member and previous I'm A Celeb Queen Kerry Katona.

Katona - a mum to five - has taken to her column in OK! Magazine to warn Hague and Fury that their daughter may face ridicule for the name later on in life.

Her column reads: "Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week. It’s lovely news, but I must admit I’m not a fan of the name. I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous.

"It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot! The poor kid might get some stick in school.

"If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…"

And Katona isn't the only person to have expressed concern at Hague and Fury's choice of name for their child.

Social media users had a field day after the announcement, taking to Twitter in a flurry to give their views on the name.

One said: "Does Molly-Mae not know what happened to Bambi's mum?"

"Now I understand what she meant when she said in her video that nobody else on Instagram had the baby name she wanted," another wrote.

While a third commented: "Why does it sound like a film? From the makers of Cocaine Bear… BAMBI FURY."

Hague and Fury's choice of name for their baby daughter has sparked debate online.

Despite the debate the name has sparked, Hague and Fury were always aware it was going to cause a bit of controversy, with people either set to 'love it or hate it' because of it being 'very, very different and rare'.

Hague resolved: "I’ve had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It’s always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I’ve always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too."

And hey, if Katona is right and she does end up getting 'some stick' for it at school, Bambi can be shortened to 'B' as one Twitter user suggested or worst comes the worst, she can always obtain a deed poll later on in life.
